Cartier Alarm - insight ...
A few days ago my watch in the bathroom stopped and needed a new battery.
Today I had the possibility to buy a new battery in a small watch shop in the neighbourhood and did the change myself.
Now the watch is running again, but something came to my mind when I looked insight ...
... so far a nice alarm watch with some nice details ...
... and an ETA quartz movement inside.
What came to my mind: Somehow it looks "cheap" inside ... if only the alarm would work properly ... why did I buy it?
Well, because I was in the mood to get one at a foreign airport and because it looks nice - even in the bathroom

But all the quartz - the mechanical ones are a different story - clocks I have seen, even from top tier "manufacture" have similarly unimpressive insides. I think one reason for this is the lack of availability of nicely finished quartz alarm clock moveme...

I like the "No (0) Jewels" indication on the ETA quartz movement. Kind of funny when you think about it. Best regards, George

i'm in the same boat. i have a chopard desk clock that looks great, but is simply a quartz, and i find that a little disappointing. maybe even cynical on the part of the companies making them. i'd guess that the margins for them are fairly healthy. which ...
I do not believe so
at least at the same price range as the clock Oliver posted. I have seen high-end, unique clocks by Cartier at auction, but I do not believe mechanical desk clocks are part of the regular collection. I'll find out. - SJX
I am partially right
Thanks to the great people at Cartier Paris who answer emails on Sunday. All clocks above EUR5000 have mechanical movements. Will get photos. - SJX

Here are a few mechanical clocks

is pure, classic beauty. Back in the old days I was always a bit put off by Cartier, mainly because everyone seemed to be wearing a fake tank watch (it was the '80s), but the 'good stuff' is just that, very good indeed. m
Nice to see these beauties! Not many of today's watch manufacturers ...
