Choosing a Bulgari watch case
I agree with FrX above about the factors for choosing a watch case by BVLGARI or any brand.
The complex case should look simple or effortless.
The finishing should enhance the design.
The case and strap/bracelet should meld harmoniously and be proportional in form and function; rather than struggle to achieve some fantasy "superlative" like 'world's biggest watch' etc etc.
The comfort on-the-wrist should be the raison d'etre of the case-lugs-strap/bracelet-fastening system; a complicated design may be justified in the name of user comfort. If it looks 'cool' as well, all the better! 
The watch should evoke emotional response at a visceral level as well as intellectual.
We all have experienced watches where our calculation logic has driven the purchase because of brand prestige or peer pressure or perceived 2nd hand value; that we regret later.
The emotional quotient was not given prominence and neither was the horological value.
The watch should be assessed as if the brand logo was missing.
BVLGARI: Visceral, Proportionate, Simple, Complexed, Finished, Designed, Comfort.
With or Without the brand logo....

Thank you for your answer. You are right, there are so many things to consider and each watch is different and has its own unique qualities that make it appealing. Hmm, 3D printing, will have to try to dig some up :) Thanks again and agree on the Octo.

I look for classic style and comfort
I do not limit my choices when it comes to watch cases. I am extremely fond of the Octo case and think Bulgari has done an excellent job modernizing it.
