Blancpain

Another Gem

Not a lot of talk about this watch.   No doubt this is due to the fact that only 50 were made.  That is a tragedy, as the watch is stunning.  Others have made watches with sapphire dials; what makes this Blancpain unique is that the sapphire dial has applied gold indexes.  That is ferociously hard to do as the drilling of holes fractures a huge percentage of the dials.  Thus it takes many tries to make a dial.  Also, take time to examine the flawless poli mirroir finish on the tourbillon cage, and the flawless anglage finish on the exposed upper bridges.  That kind of anglange can only be done by hand with a file and burnisher (the interior angles (angle rentrant); these can't be done this finely with an electric turning tool.
