This one is for Nicolas who in the thread below mentioned that he liked the Carrousel version that Magnus posted better than the Tourbillon Transparence that I posted. I thought I would post this Carrousel shot because the production watch differs from the version that Magnus photographed during Basel. The differences are fairly extensive. The large plate on dial that bears the name "Blancpain" is decorated completely differently; the hands have an entirely different design and the winding rotor is now larger. Finally the strap has a more extreme mat finish and has contrasting platinum threads. I think all of the changes improved the watch.
I find a couple of details particularly pleasing. First I like the way the carrousel cage is positioned at a heighth above the movement plate. This not only improves the "view" but gives added depth to the watch. Second, the finishing of the chapter rings is spectacular--as pointed out earlier on this forum if you examine the finishing where the power reserve and date rings meet the chapter ring you can see huge amounts of hand work that had to be done to make it perfect.
