The PAM424 and PAM425 are the regular production models of the special editions PAM448 & PAM449 (of which I posted here: panerai.watchprosite.com ).
PAM424 47mm Radiomir California 3 Days
PAM425 47mm Radiomir S.L.C. 3 Days (below prototype is missing the pig at 6 o'clock)
The main differences with these regular edition PAM424 & PAM425 when compared to their special edition brethren are:
1. Hands are now gold instead of blue
2. Sapphire glass instead of plexi glass
3. Lobo/emblem above 6 o'clock
The cases are stainless steel and production for this year is 1500 pieces. Retail price on both models is $8700 each, and they both house the same in-house P.3000 movement. Both designs once again are based on the vintage 1930's models with the California dial and the stick & ball dial.
In the above video, notice how the sapphire glass protrudes upwards from the case? The plexi glass crystals of their special edition brethen don't protrude out like this. I feel this look of the crystal popping out of the case gives the watch a more vintage look which I absolutely love. Does anyone else feel this way too?
And lastly, I don't know how you guys feel about Panerai including the OP logo at 6 o'clock on the PAM424 and the pig on the PAM425, but I feel these additions detract from the design. It's not as bad with the pig on the below PAM425, but I feel the OP logo on the California dial doesn't work well IMO. The California dial should be left plain, uncluttered, and free of extraneous text, emblems, logos, etc.
Cheers,
Anthony
