Anyone purchased an MP4-12c yet?

Admittedly, I've a bit of a soft spot for sports cars (Thomas may recall our recent chat on the topic).

So, to the point... recently, the MP4-12c (http://www.mclarenautomotive.com/uk/default.aspx) has been calling me.

I'll be visiting the track with an example shortly, but wanted to see if I could connect with some current owners regarding their experiences.

I look forward to your replies... privately, if preferred.

Regards,

-Brycej

Someone once poorly tried to explain to me that some high-end car dealers buy the cars from the manufacturer, run them in (putting some miles on the clock) and then sell them at a reduced price. The reasoning being that they can't sell them at a reduced p...

that's roughly the rationale

Sometimes the dealers get a special incentive payment for moving a quota of vehicles. Sometimes they just need to move out a car that the boss's wife has been driving. Depending on the country or state, sometimes the registration takes care of a road tax ...

Another explanation might be, and I'm just spitballing here...

For a high end auto with limited production and availability where manufacturer restricts ADs from selling a new car for more than MSRP, the same used auto with very low mileage can be sold for what the market will bear; and often this is more than list p...

Thanks to both of you...

Insightful information so thank you. Apologies for deviating off the topic ;) I assume another reason why the cars may command a premium is for one of the aforementioned reasons (high turnover of vehicles by an individual) but also including the factor th...

Just test drove one...

My overall impression of the car has been mostly positive. It certainly feels very different than any other sports car I've driven before, and the door adds drama to the overall package. Personally, I'm not too fond of the overall appearance, as I think i...

I haven't purchased one, but I've had some seat time...

about 8 laps at Goodwood, and about 45 minutes (40 miles?) on the public roads around Goodwood. A very, very well engineered car - brake steering? air brakes? state of the art technology on a road car. Can a car be too good? It was so docile, it was almos...
