Audemars Piguet

An interesting beast

Watch by Audemars Piguet, Royal Oak Offshore, Royal Oak, Royal Oak Chronograph, 25721

I have had a fixation/love for this brand for almost 10 years now. One thing I find is, the more time I spend in the world of watches, I continue to find strange variants of watches I thought I previously knew everything about!

The watch above is a 25721TI - the titanium version of the beast, but with a white/blue dial and blue tachymeter. I saw one for sale yesterday and did a double take. I personally like the combo a bit, and surely it is rare (anyone know prod numbers?). I believe 2,902 of the titanium beasts were ever produced in all variants. One significant design feature that caught my eye on this variant is the grand-tapisserie dial. The beast is known for being one of the only offshores ever made with the petit-tapisserie dial, while most offshores feature a mega-tapisserie. Seeing the grand pattern used here, I think it looks great, and just makes the watch even further unique. Not to mention, the silver minute track that provides some more contrasting. Overall, this is an eyecatching piece, and I'm glad to see they were made. I would love to try on a titanium offshore to see how the lighter weight feels versus a steel.
