This or that ?

Just want to share with you some old pics. The question is very simple. Which version do you prefer ? Classic or modern ? The skeletonized work on the 2120 or on the 3120 ? 2120: 3120: When you compare them, you realize how different they are... maybe eve...

Great pics...

almost the same watch, but at the same time completely different...stunning display of old school and modern interpretation. Thanks for the pics, Andy.

New one

even though I find the older ones more comfortable to wear, I just dislike that overly worked "let's cover every remaining mm with engraving" style of the older one a

Modern...

The work on the modern movement fits the style of the RO better than the classic movement. That classic movement would look the best in a simple round dress watch. But I wouldn't mind having either.

3120 no doubt! [nt]

Glad you posted these two

I have been thinking about these two lately and wanted to see such a side-by-side comparison. The first is indeed more old school, but it is also timeless (well, over 40 years is not too shabby), while the second is so modern looking especially when see n...

Very difficult choice

 By: grigo : July 1st, 2011-21:46
if you want my opinion. I would be very hard pressed if I had to choose between the two. As you point out both are lovely for their own reasons. I am more attracted by the contempary look of the second watch, but would need to see the two in the flesh bef...

For me a skeletonized movement means the engraving art The new one is just the simple movement, nice but i don't think it can be classified as real skeleton.

I don't agree with you.

The 3120 is a "classic" movement with a mainplate etc... there is a true skeletonizing work on it to produce the 15305. Fx

They are both skeletonized.

There's no doubt. But the 15305 is far from the meaning of the "skeleton" that i give to this word.

ah, ok !

 By: foversta : July 3rd, 2011-02:15
It is exactly the reason why I like it: it brings something different. Fx

I agree.

We could say it's a mix between a skeleton and concept watch. This is the skeletonized conceived in the 21th century

+1 love the old version

hes the one who bought it from the Paris boutique as i was with him there (i was supposed to get it but long story and he got it instead it was when i met you and nicholas in 09) so i must be biased if i say i much prefer the 2120 style more as its soo ti...

Tough question

 By: Hampusw : July 2nd, 2011-01:13
I prefer the movement on the modern 15305, but the shape and size of the 2120 way better. If I could special order it, I would take a Jumbo with the 3120 movement without a second hand.

3120 for me

can discern the complexity more readily than the 2120...... J

Thank you all for your comments!

For me, the 15305 is my fav version. I find the modern style of skeletonizing the movement perfect for the Royal Oak case, especially in its thicker version. Moreover, I find the watch more readable thanks to a better contrast between the hands and the mo...

Always admired "this" ...

 By: small-luxury-world : July 3rd, 2011-02:59
but the new "that" really appeals to me, because of the "puristic/modern" approach. Never saw one of them in the metal, so far. 15305 - case and bracelet seems to be very close to 15300, which I owned. When I bought it, I thought it would be a keeper for ...

2120 for me

I agree with Olivier about the 15300. I love the old case and bracelet much better and the engraving on the movement is my kind of "bling'
