no reflection on Lange
Many things could have happened to the watch from the completion of the manufacturing process to the point when you purchased it. Someone could have knocked into it during the transport or sales process: I see many brand new watches in the display cases of the retailers you mentioned with obvious surface scratches. Accidents happen ... For the record, I have owned several Langes and they are absolutely perfect.

Lange has good reputation in providing good service. In my case, the watchmaker repaired my watch and recorded detail particulars in service log book. The warantty period runs afresh from the date of service. Regards Ling
