I made the mistake of exclaiming this when I was in the factory. "You are a business" I said "Making a comfortable living for yourselves and your loved ones is your main goal, is it not?" Their response was one I should have foreseen, of course making money was not their original goal! Making the world's greatest timepieces, that has been the A.Lange & Sohne philosophy since Ferdinand A. Lange decided to pick up his loupe and tweezers. Back in the days when your lifes work was just that. In this day and age the majority of the population work as a means to an end. Work is so we can afford the luxuries of beautiful timepieces and fast cars, expansive houses and 5 star holidays. In the 19th century this was less true, people lived for their work, a value which Lange still claim they live their lives by. Could the manufacture increase production to that of it's closest competitors? Yes in a short space of time, given the right backing from Richemont; of course they can. That, however would be against the Brand's core values and tradition. That is why I have the upmost respect for this manufacture, above any other.
