The Cape Cod is a slightly stronger polishing fabric... it's like a felt sheet absorbed with an abrasive solution. The one I have is pink in colour (not sure if they're all the same colour). You can find it on that auction site.
Capecod on gold...Sacrilege?
Lately I have been tempted to rub my WG 1815 with capecod to erase those hairlines... In theory since Lange's WG is non-rodiated but a proper white alloy it should work, right? Or am I wrong and it will kill the watch? And, in any case, is this sacrilege?...
I do...
... but don't do it often. I normally wear my watches until there are quite a few hairlines (which as I'm really careful with my gold watches, it'll take at the very least a couple of years), then I'll Cape Cod it but very lightly. I only do it on watches...

I am also very careful, but after one or two years it is hard to avoid any hairlines...and I miss the bright shiny surface of when they were brand new...

I would avoid it for watches like Lange for the reasons explained by Sidney. Fx
You might try a jeweler's cloth...
They seem gentler than Cape Cod cloths, and they're dry, but they do pretty well with hairlines.
Silly question:what is cape cod?
All I have is a yellow cloth that came with my Scatola del Tempo set,it gets black when you use it and it removes little hair lines.Is that a cape cod cloth? Sorry about the obvious question Mo

I am pretty sure all i have is a jeweler s cloth...but it works...still must be careful on brushed parts..I used it on a watch I had,to remove a semiserious scratch,and it affected the brush finish...ouch! Mo

Yes, they're quite abrasive! Once I polished a watch with Cape Cod I mustn't have buffed it thoroughly enough, the next morning, a thin layer of that chalky bit formed up again. It freaked me out, but thank god I only had to buff it away. So now when I us...

That procedure appears to be very delicate for the integrity of the case due to the abrasive specification of the cape cod. Its much better not to try. Best regards, my friend.
