Which one should I buy and why?

Hello guys, my AD offert me 2 NOS datographs. Number one is the reference 403.035, the platinium version, and the second is the pink gold version with black dial, the so called Dufourograph, reference 403.031, which was only producd a few years. Both are ...

I hope you like to feel the weight of your watches

because both are heavy especially the platinum model. You may not notice it when trying it at your AD but try putting it on 8 hours daily, and you might understand my qualm with the datograph.

My vote would be for the pink gold/black dial

Personally, I like the look of pink gold with the black dial. I would of course take either if I could afford it. Let us know which one you choose and post some wrist shots!

Hmmm...2 NOS Datographs...such good things still exist?

Good for you....I'll take both

I like both version so it would be a toss up but I guess the platinum/black dial combo is more popular here and I actually owned this model in the past...

You cannot go wrong with either one. If it were between the YG (yellow jacket) and RG, I think I would choose the YG model since I believe they made less of them. The RG/black dial has become a bit more difficult to get as of late if that matters to you. ...

Agree that weight difference and useability of colored gold should be your biggest considerations

I went with the Pt version as I like white metal and don’t mind the weight but I am used to wearing bulkier and heavier pieces. I also want to stray away from a black strap as well so I the black dial white case would lend itself to a more range of colors...

Which could you wear more? Often coloured gold is less wearable for some people day to day, so consider this.

Based purely on aesthetics I’d go RG/Black dial. Personally, for practical reasons, when I was buying mine I chose the Platinum. I can’t, don’t want to, wear a colour gold watch on a regular basis.

Both stunning and beautiful watches .

Just pic the one that speaks the most to you

Platinum

I don't think yg is very wearable. It can't be dressed down nearly as easily as something like platinum/wg/ss

Did you decide? The RG 403 Dato with black dial is definitely more rare than the Pt

But the Pt should be more versatile and as long as the weight doesn’t bother you... go for it!!!

Thanks for your statements and thoughts

As my AD is 80 miles away, I currently can´t test the look and feel with regard to the different weights. Reading your posts I "see" that the weight is not to underestimated. I saw that PT has a specific weight of 20, RG of 15 which is quit a big differen...

Just to keep you informed...

..today my AD told me, that in the meanwhile he has sold both watches to another collector. Since both watches would only have been a compromise anyway, (PT probably too heavy, PG too colored) it is not a problem for me. Thanks to all of you for your thou...

Thanks for posting the follow-up...

If you revisit these models later, please do reconsider the platinum. Many, many people actually prefer the weight and don't find it uncomfortable at all. You may find that after 2 minutes on your wrist, you don't notice the weight. Best of luck when you ...

Yes, so it was told to me by my AD

He first buyed the Dufourograph and hours later he called my AD and told him, that he also takes the PT. A lucky guy. Cheers, Mike
