I did not have close calls but hard falls!! Hard enough to break my collarbone and scrape all the skin that met with the asphalt.
On my first fall, on my way back from work, I broke my laptop which was supposed to be well protected in a internal padded section of my backpack. On my second fall, I managed to wreck a G-Shock. Following these two falls, and for several weeks, I kept having images of how my timepieces would have looked like after the crash. These images are pretty dark. Cycling is one of the most damaging sport that I can think of.
Like everyone else above, I would highly recommend that you leave your ALS safe and quiet at home
