A. Lange & Söhne

Congrats Melvin!

I'm a fan of pocket watches (PP, IWC, Omega, and some anonymous repeater watches) but never dare to show them as I thought noboby but me is interested.

I am delighted to see all the enthousiastic comments about your marvellous watch. You have picked up the very best. Do not regret you could not afford to buy a wristwatch as this one will surely bring you a lot of emotions: with its B&P it has a soul and a history much more than a modern watch would bring you. OK I am not totally impartial as I love vintage pieces but I mean it.

There are however 2 major constraints with these watches :

1. they are relatively fragile and should be manipulated with care, not only when taking them in your hand, but more even when in your pocket. They were originally meant to be stored in a "gousset" pocket in the waistcoat, and were then much less supposed to move all the time as in trousers pocket. Therefore do not hesitate to use your watch when you are in the office but keep it at home the days when you are more on the move

2. the worse thing when wearing these beautiful pocket watches is that the chain scratches the case which is obviously unbearable when you talk about a real nice piece. For this I have a solution: I have ordered from a talented leather craftman (my watchstrap maker) some tailor-made holsters made specially for each of my pocket watches so as to fit perfectly in terms of size: neither too loose, neither too tight so that it can be used easily while protecting the watchcase perfectly. I have to make pictures and post them for you shortly.

Hope it helps...

Best,

Mike
