Guten abend my fellow Lange friends! Trust you all are having a great TUesday! I know i did! So, to bring things up to speed, today i brought my watch to my AD, and we discussed about what could be done regarding the ridiculous scratches that Lange caused...

You have NOT been reading my previous post! The scratches got there because of Lange's fault! Btw, Platinum is NOT that difficult to scratch, afterall it ranks but just 4~4.5 on the Moh's scale! Yes, you are correct because tonight i WILL sleep that much ... 

... or extremely close to it. I wildly rejoice with you - and for the success of Mr. Kosugi! Was that on the table what "we" used to call Kobe beef? And you can put away a full kilo away the table? Forget the deserts! Do you enjoy the sushi? HA. ----- now... 

Right now with the naked eye and even if you play around with the angles of light, the surface is smooth, so smooth that i'd wish it was butter i could spread of top of my bread, or maybe let melt over my steak! I am not that into music, but i know you ar...

First of all, it is a very well known fact that Platinum is a hard material to polish but you easiliy get scratches with it. So if you don't like scratches, don't buy a platinum watch. Moreover, it is better in a long-time run not to work on the case ever... 

It would of needle me, if I had not been the one who had caused them.

I decided that i could not live with it one day more. SO now it's cleared! Let's hope Lange does not do it again to me in the future. Cheers Stephen

Thanks for clarification One thing that confuses me a bit . Both you and Xavier mention about the interesting characteristic of Platinum case being scratched easily..... I have always had the impression that Platinum is more resistant to scratches than go... 

Maybe falling into bed with a handful of salted peanuts will to the trick but I have never experienced real scratches even after doing that.. Many white gold cases, and the same goes for platinum, have a rhodium coating that is especially scratch-resisten... 

I thought platinum being harder than gold so it can resist scratches better....and of course it will be harder to be polished too. Same for Stainless steel, it being harder than gold also resist scratches better. When we do a special coating on Stainless ... 

Despite all my reading and researching, it seems like Platinum DOES scratch even easier than WG. WG has a rhodium coating, Pt does not because it does not need it. Pt is already renown for it's natural whiteness, which is one of the factors that the Ladie... 

and I must say pt scratches very easily.white gold for example gets hairlines in a more consinsest way ,a bit like steel.Pt gave me too the impression of a hard surface to scratch ,but was wrong.Anyway I suppose its impossible to mantain a "perfect"watch ... 

Well i don't know how to put it except that I wear them "damn carefully"! Of course scratches do appear on my watches as well, referring to the platinum ones too, but they are at a bare minimal, and sometimes when i see photo's of other's Pt watches im da... 

As i would mention, having friends like you and Amery is one of the main reasons I live here on the PuristS! I don't ever mind the threads getting long and emotional, as long as people respect one another and we are all sharing our most favourite and comm...

It is Lange who scratches his watch, not Stephen himself and the CEO of Lange Japan has been very rude to him. Also, Platinum is not an easy watch to be scratched, gold and titanium are. After buying a dream watch of his ( 6 figure sum), to realise that t...

I have limited experience on platinum case , maybe 4 or 5 of them but in my recollection, they really resist scratches alot better than the gold cases. It tends to get beautiful swirls over time but not ugly scratches. And yes I agree with you that if one... 

which i do my watches HARDLY get any scratches. Me and my family are reputed to take very good cares of our belongings. My mom's kitchen for 18 years was so clean and in such good condition that when we wanted to rent out our place and the agent came for ... 

I'v read your post later. Lol hope you understand now that the scratces weren't caused by me, thats why i couldn't live with it. Of course i know the "troubles" of a Platinum watch, my collection is mainly platinum timepieces, And i don't work on it every... 

I didn;t catch your previous thread on what happened but regardless, you are a happy camper with this fantastic piece. I hope to be able to afford a fusee chain movement someday... and hopefully in comes complete in a working time piece

Scratches are unavoidable, on a platinum watch. So, you'd better get used to them, my friend, and live with them till you send your watch for a complete service... If not, the Sisyph's Myth will turn into Tantalum's Torture... Best, Nicolas This message h... 

And i would not make a fuss out of it if it was created by me! But this was NOT the case! Lange created that scratch on my precious beauty when i sent it in for repair! Wouldn't you agree that the watch should come back to me as perfect, and not worst tha...

Sorry mate I'm late to the party but as soon I saw the thread, I had a feeling in me that it's good news!! That is excellent excellent news!! You deserve the perfect watch and I'm glad that you have managed to get it polished up by an expert in metallurgy... 

Thank you! Yes indeed, the feeling in me is euphoria, and it's so damn good to look at pure, gleeming Platinum! I'm a huge eater mate, i could eat up to 2kg of meat, especially if they are in the form of either beef or lamb, ( oh i miss Oz lamb from my da...

that you are now happy with your watch.... however it seems that there are some scratches on the buckle and the back of the case, especially next to the 950 and one of the screws.... I hope that it is just dust..... As far as the CEO I advise you to confr... 

Regarding the scratches on the buckle, i know about them and this happens to all my Pt watches because i use platinum stitchings in the straps of all of them, thus the stitching scraps against each other and causes that. I wouldn't worry about that. Regar...

It is extremely not easy to find someone who is capable of polishing platinum "perfectly". So far, this is what had been told to me. Many will complain that "it is very hard and it is not possible for me to do a 100% job". None will say that "I am not ski...
