Imagine if Lange produced fewer Lange 1, for example?

For some reason the brands that are part of publicly traded company watch conglomerates just don’t create  “halo pieces” (that are reasonably affordable) in the current collection.

It could be false correlation, maybe it’s a coincidence that the hot models are from “independents”

Let's avoid the discussion about monetary topics. Per our terms of conduct: Connoisseurship, ownership, and collecting is about much more than price and who sells what. Price and seller references tend to overwhelm the other more subtle, though equally im...

Maybe I'm in the minority here, but I think I've turned pro-hype

Think about it, hype is great for current owners, the brands, the ADs, and the watch industry as a whole. Not so good for prospective customers of course, but we have the advantage of having many options to choose from!

Brands should really think of making their watches for collectors or flippers...

These CB are not many so should be easy to identify. Just look at the ALS Odysseus...good track record of <5 resale in a year of its release. Other brands I’ve no comments, check out the new crowns....few hundreds in less than a month...of course people w...

I’m biased but the CB is a far more interesting watch, and more appealing in general I think.

Is it 4x more interesting, maybe not. Interesting to see the dealer has two of these Lange. I’ve not see one for sale for a long long time and now two.

Lange needs to get out of Richemont, if they are ever to realize their full potential

Lange’s are (generally) better finished that FPJ, but the production number, complete in-house-ness (from movement to dial and case) and distribution of FPJ is what sets them apart. Hype leaves more options for those who don’t follow.

To my eyes, the 1815 is exceptionally bland

That said, no doubt the CB is hugely hyped. For me, it is the more compelling watch price notwithstanding.

I've owned two 1815s

I found their Up and Down to be exceptional. Maybe some day a Sax-O-Mat? Best for the bucks by far!

I like both
