Take the ref. 5231J. At 8 percent, that's an increase of almost $6,000. I get it, these are expensive pieces. But that's a huge increase that, as far as I can tell, cannot be accounted for by inflation.

Yes, I guess that the major part of the price for a watch is constituted by brand and movement, in named order
Of course the brand has cost billions to build, in marketing, research and development, that of course need to be recouped in some way.
My AD has had official confirmation of the rise from 1st October
Average is 8%, higher on PM and lower on SS.
I spoke to my AD this morning and they still don't have an updated MSRP for each model
They will be getting an updated list later this week or next week. At the moment they only have a general letter saying an average 8% price increase and as mentioned above some models will have a higher price rise compared to others.

My response is: choice. You donāt have to buy the watch, we all recognise they are not the truly important things in our lives, however much we enjoy them..
maybe the manufacturer is doing it to rebalance supply/demand, maybe to match a competitor, maybe for pure greed... If you donāt like it, donāt pay it. Vote with your cash.
You are absolutely right...we all have a choice. I'm actually ok with such moves and I think our views have to be fair across all brands.
Maybe ALS timing was really bad when all the COVID-19 crisis starting but apparently there is nothing we can do and we still fall for it. Just like ourselves working bees, we all want pay raises every year, same for watch makers and employees of the brand...
