IWC Portuguese F.A. Jones

This IWC's one-time limited edition Portuguese was produced in 2005 in commemoration of IWC's roots and in honour of IWC's founder, F.A. Jones (thus his signature is printed on the dial of the watch). IWC was founded in 1868 by an American engineer & watchmaker, Florentine Ariosto Jones in Schaffhausen where the factory still operates today. What makes this watch highly collectible is that IWC specially made for this watch the Calibre 98290 which resembles closely the original "Jones" pocket watch calibre from over 100 years' ago. On this movement, one can find the distinctive 3/4 plate & the oversized regulator which is known as the "Jones arrow", featuring the elongated index for easy precise fine adjustment, found in early IWC pocket watches. The Calibre 98290 has 18 jewels and beats at 18,000 vph. The watch has a Porcelain white dial with dark blue Arabic numerals, Breguet hands, black signature & minute divisions. Small seconds at 6. It also features a distinctive onion crown that is characteristic of the 1870s' pocket watches. Dimensions of the watch are 43mm x 51mm x 11.7mm. Production of this stainless steel Portuguese watch is limited to 3000 pieces. Watch has just been collected back from IWC after a complete servicing. Hence it now looks and functions like new while the original IWC porcelain dial is also perfect. The IWC strap is over 90% new. Original special limited edition big box and factory papers. The IWC service certificate will be provided too.
