WRISTSCAN 19/20 January. THEME: movements
By: Arie - Mr Orange : January 17th, 2019-10:45
As I wrote in the announcement yesterday we WIS love our little mechanical wonders. Watches are our greatest vice. At least they are the greatest vice we can openly talk about ๐. Now on a very solid second place we have our cars (and/or perhaps boat). So ...
Since I am not really a car guy...
By: blomman Mr Blue : January 17th, 2019-11:33
I will go for the option without a car! Front: rather anonymous... Hood: still quite plain... Engine: awesome! Zenith Calibre 135 non-chrononmetre - Movement diameter 30mm, balance diameter 14mm(!), 19 Jewels, 1800vph! HAGWE Blomman ...
OH how kind...thanks:-)

I particularly like the GO pic
Thx, yes indeed
By: dedestexhes : January 19th, 2019-04:49
Encased it is 41mm, so a nice size. However still a project as I still want to change case etc. once I have the time... but certainly worth it. The sound is vastly superior compared to a lot of modern watches... Hope to share more info soon! Br, Dirk
Hello dear Arie!! Great theme for this week end WS and also...
By: Subexplorer : January 17th, 2019-13:12
... a real challenge: I canโt find any shot showing car engine and watch movement together and there is a limit to the quantity of shots to submit!! With your kind permission I will break a bit the rules showing the engine (sans watch) of our restored 196...
Talking about a pristine engine bay!
By: Arie - Mr Orange : January 17th, 2019-13:42
And of course the engine bay of the FPJ is also a sight to behold. Great entries Abel. Have a great weekend!
A hidden gem.
By: zabreg1 Mr White : January 18th, 2019-05:57
I don't remember seeing this beauty from you before. Nice photos, my dear Abel.
FPJs are always interesting.
By: zabreg1 Mr White : January 18th, 2019-08:47
I have been eyeballing the perpetual calendar, but don't really want/need another one. But love the layout of that. And yes, please show this one more.
Very nice, thank you
By: cazalea : January 18th, 2019-13:37
I have had one Citroen from Argentina - which looked like this when I first saw it, and later like this when another guy had spent a fortune restoring it. The restoration was over the top OTT in every way except mechanics, so it was only able to go 45 mph...
Thank you Mike! Yes I remember these little cars! ...
By: Subexplorer : January 19th, 2019-07:42
they were very popular here in the late 2960โs through 1970โs. The commercial version you show we called โfurgonetaโ something like โlittle truckโ. Nice to know you owned one!! As I said Iโm very fond of this brand! Cheers! Abel
Nice one! ๐
By: JFT : January 19th, 2019-04:56
Love the FPJ! Especially the back side is just a pure joy!
Not a car
By: jml_watches : January 17th, 2019-13:14
But just like watches bikes have the same golden rule n+1 is the ideal number Pedal rather than petrol power No guesses as what this case back belongs to! Cheers JML ...
+1 [nt]
By: dedestexhes : January 17th, 2019-13:34
It's a flattie on my mountain bike
By: jml_watches : January 17th, 2019-14:20
You can have toe clips, or clip in - but I fall off to regularly for that! As then your physically attached to bike & makes getting off harder. They on an orange 5 It's also quite clean at the mo! Cheers JML ...
I already have n bikes
By: cazalea : January 18th, 2019-10:17
filling my bike shed why I am I looking to buy n+1? Right! Because it has a motor Cazalea ...
You've got a Raleigh!
By: jml_watches : January 18th, 2019-10:22
You can always come up for a reason for the +1 Cheers JML
Indeed
By: cazalea : January 18th, 2019-10:43
I have had several! A Professional and an International The International was brown but I had it repainted a brighter color. This photo is from (gulp) 1974. Then my wife insisted on hers having an upgraded paint job too, which my pal Joe Bell took care of...
They look great
By: jml_watches : January 18th, 2019-11:09
It's good to have history with something - whether it's a watch or a bike. My Trek is only 15 years old - but it happily has handmade in USA emblazoned on it. Thanks for sharing Cheers JML
Lovely memovox!
By: JFT : January 19th, 2019-04:58
I kinda want to see it in action, really cool!
Sweet shots!
By: Arie - Mr Orange : January 17th, 2019-15:06
tnx!
Killer shot on that FPJ!

Couldn't possibly resist this topic!...
By: pplater : January 17th, 2019-22:07
One picture only; favourite movement (with all respect to M. Dufour!); from the collection; Christian Klings 'piece unique': Cheers, pplater ...
It is rarely shown, Arie...
By: pplater : January 18th, 2019-22:21
... which is probably unfair to Christian, who really did a remarkable job on the architecture of the movement and, indeed, the watch as a whole. Thank you for your kind response. Cheers, pplater.
Letโs agree โinsaneโ, at leastโฆ
By: pplater : January 18th, 2019-22:25
That seems to be almost as important here as passion, information and whatever the third thing was! Itโs really good to see you in full flight again Damjan. All the best, dear friend. Cheers, pplater.
Thank you very much Abel...
By: pplater : January 18th, 2019-22:27
Christian certainly put his heart and soul into the movement. Itโs very gratifying that it should find favour in this stratospheric company. Cheers, pplater.
Thanks Mr White...
By: pplater : January 18th, 2019-22:30
In some respects, at least, it doesnโt get more unusual. In other respects, however, it is watchmaking stripped down to its purist form. Cheers, pplater.
Yet beauty is said to be...
By: pplater : January 18th, 2019-22:33
... in the eye of the beholder. The fact that we are all able to agree that so many of the movements in this thread are truly beautiful may give the lie to that adage! ๐ Cheers, pplater.

What a mighty movement!
By: JFT : January 19th, 2019-05:07
Haven't seen a movement with such many cocks other than one made by lang und heyne, which was one of my favorite movements! Awesome! Seems like pallet lubricating on this movement is such a bliss compared to another movement.
Very astute of you, JFT...
By: pplater : January 20th, 2019-00:18
It's interesting that you should make that observation. Presumably you are referring to the Lang & Heyne 'Anton' tourbillon movement released last year, itself based on the 'Georg' movement released in 2017. These are they (photos courtesy watchandtim...
Dear friend, great theme!
By: claes_t : January 17th, 2019-23:16
I like to think of my vintage 911 as the sport Rolex of cars. Robust, reliable and not very pretty under the hood๐ For this theme though I feel the need to post a picture of a Rolex engine that I truly like. I even find it pretty... HAGWE all ...

Thereโs a nagging expectancy leaking through some of your recent posts. Weโd be forgiven for getting the impression that you are lining up something โbigโ and out of left field in the near future, as you have done in the past with pieces like the Freak an...
Unfortunately, nowhere near an engine.
By: zabreg1 Mr White : January 18th, 2019-05:50
But, the movement Iโm wearing is absolute tops in my eyes. Of course, I am talking about the mighty Datograph. Just a little city of activity. Here is a comparison with the PP 5270G. And here is the King Kong, the PP 5370: Sorry for breaking the 2 pic lim...

And I think heโs a better judge than me.
Which would be 4th?
By: zabreg1 Mr White : January 18th, 2019-08:49
I guess PLM. But I decided to go with chronographs.
Thanks JFT.
By: zabreg1 Mr White : January 19th, 2019-16:09
But Baronโs photos put mine to shame, especially with movements
Great theme Arie .
