For basically the same price, both steel pieces, which would members pick? JLC Perpetual Calendar (39mm automatic)... I show picture of one with the black dial... Or the VC Historiques Triple Calendrier 1942 (40mm manual)... I show picture of the one with...
From a purely aesthetic standpoint, the VC wins hands down. However, I find that black is more wearable on a daily basis over cream. And since it isn’t that bad looking, I’d go with the JLC Echi
for the functionality, i would go for the JLC. I love the perpetual complication. I was reading about the VC article from Hodinkee and saw that's its not even an annual calendar? so close to buying it. Benson
So, if it was only from a pure technical point of view, I would go for the JLC. If it’s only from an aesthetically point of view, I would go for the VC without any hesitation. Best wishes Alkiro
I understand needing to differentiate btwn the steel and gold versions but I think they already did that by not having a moonphase in the steel version. Applied markers would have been the way to go here.
... the forum it was posted in. For me, the perpetual calendar would clearly make it. Not only is it a perpetual calendar ... PERPETUAL!! ... it is also a well-designed mechanism (by Kurt Klaus) and one of the few well-legible perpetuals as well. The blac...

the VC is really nice too! Between these 2 I select the JLC MUT Perpetual though. the VC may be a tad big on the wrist with its tear lugs and 40mm case. The JLC is really technically cool , with a single pusher to set all indicators - from day to date to ...
Sometimes I am biased by the brand. Luckily VC and JLC are brands that IMHO are very innovative and true to its heritage yet technologically/mechanically are the best today. Usually whenever I choose between two watch I ask to my self what would I pick at...
I am still confused. It is not fair comparison Perpetual Calendar vs Calendar. both have strengths and weaknesses due to its inherent complication But the Lug is clear VC's game ( Both picture are just what if scenario and still belongs to its respective ...
It's beautiful; very well laid-out. The dial is filled but not busy. The VC looks like it has empty space for something else to pop in (a moon phase?). And why would anyone make a triple calendar any more? Going for the vintage feel doesn't have to mean c...
Dial wise, both nice, I actually like the JLC more But the movement side, the VC movement, finish, eye candy aspect is a country mile ahead - which makes the VC win in my mind
All along when this thread started it has been very difficult showdown thats why I challenge myself to do what if I have to select brand blinded. My comparison is missing the other important part of selection. Thank you for pointing that out. You are righ...
in a collection of watches because it will either have to spend a lot of time on watch wonder or you would be resetting it often anyway; therefore, out of the two it would be the VC, mainly because of the aesthetics, although the price is high in comparis...
Dear all... Thank you to all who participated. In a word to my final question, No, we do not all agree! Tallying the results, and not including my own preference, here is the breakdown: 7 prefer the JLC Perpetual 7 prefer the VC triple calendar Split righ...
Love the dial colour, the gorgeous lugs, the case and even the arabic numerals. And without even looking at the movement, am I not correct to say that a VC movement should be better finished than a JLC?!
A beautiful case, more original that at first glance. OK the complications don't play the same league but frankly speaking I find the Vacheron more appealing. I handled it today and it is the best watch coming from Vacheron for ages. Not to mention the us...
