They're back!

Nov 07, 2017,02:07 AM

After six weeks, I received my two UNs back from service today!

They came in two very nice blue leather pouches - the nicest service pouches I have seen so far (not that it makes a practical difference whether the service pouch is made from leather or nylon!).

And here they are, freshly polished, like new!

And they kindly even sent back enough parts for another watch!!

It seems that more and more brands send back parts after a full service. Interesting! Best wishes Alkiro

I think it is also a legal issue ...

The watch you buy is your property, together with all its components, from strap to escapement wheel. So unless you sign a specific contract stating that exchanged parts will remain with the service workshop, they should return them to you. However, somet...

Absolutely agree with you Marcus. But, if it’s legal, few brands play the game not the majority of them unfortunately.

Nevertheless, the main issue about parts concern vintage timepieces for me because they can be rare and so be resold. For instance, several people from Rolex have been fired few months ago because they resold vintage parts to collectors who were looking f...

I wish that Rolex

would have returned my GMT's tritium dial 😡 Great UN service, I will consider that when purchasing my next watch!

I absolutely agree with you!

I hope we’ll be heard 🤞

Best wishes Alkiro

We could combine our parts to build a new prototype ...

.... seems you are missing the big date. I got two of them ...

For that, we have to rework the parts a bit

Actually, I am considering that UN GMT Perpetual for my next watch. Could I please ask what your experience has been with it, Marcus? Reliability, readability, how it sits on the wrist? I’d really appreciate feedback as I would be buying it sight/unseen f...

Well, this perpetual always was my personal (everyday) dream watch ....

 By: Marcus Hanke : November 7th, 2017-05:42
I fell in love with it when I reviewed the original version of the GMT Perpetual with 38.5mm diameter for this forum. Besides being a little bit small on my (wide) wrist, it simply was the perfect everyday watch for me. The large date is easy to read, and...

Glad to see you got your beauties back.

And always great to hear a good service story (as sad as that is...).

Congratulation on getting your pair back!

I just spoke with UN about sending a watch in for its first service. Off to The shipper on Monday and I already look forward to its return.

Nice - I need my Perpetual GMT repaired..

Unfortunately, I cannot set the date anymore, it's stuck when I tried to get the date set correctly. My winder at 950 RPD did not manage to keep the watch wound up. (Maybe another problem?) Where did you send to to, back to UN LeLocle? Any advice apprecia...

Keeping the power reserve up is certainly an issue ....

 By: Marcus Hanke : December 5th, 2017-00:25
.... the collapse of the power reserve was the main reason why I sent the watch for service. After its return, this issue appears to have been solved, since the normal wear of the watch over the day is sufficient to build a power reserve of more than 36 h...
