I'm afraid this is a watch that loses more identity with each new generation.

Sad, really. I can't imagine Rolf would have released this watch.
I look at the Freak line to compare. Lots of changes over the years, but the watch takes on a new spirit as it goes. I love the Cruiser, I also love the older generations. I could see a true fan owning an older style and a newer style.
But these Sonatas... I am sorry to say it again, very sad to me to see what this watch has become. Why would any owner of an earlier generation want one of these newer ones? I'll answer myself, there is no reason they would. At least the Streamline had an identity - even if I still don't like it compared to the first ones.
This new model is a clear sign that the "madness" we used to always praise Ulysse Nardin for is evaporating :-(
