Here is what I was waiting to see... the new Marine Chronometer 1846

Jun 02, 2017,06:28 AM

41mm, Caliber 118, enamel dial.  Yes, a date window that is not fully needed, not a deal breaker for me or so out of place like some other models.  Look at the inner bezel - awesome!  Just like the real ship's chronometers.

I have my name on one but will inspect in person first.  Perhaps a new Ulysse Nardin for me at long last (still holding out for a Freak Cruiser, but this one is a bit more wallet friendly).

I like mine. 38mm ...

Yours is a more modern take on the ship's chronometer

The new one, more traditional.

An easy guess to make

How about a no date version with Arabics? That would be a King for me.

How about weekday window at 9 and month at 3

Because wishes are tax free 😁

The bezel flange

Gives it a very remarkable look that does a good job of recalling a marine chronometer. I also love the Le Locle on the dial. I hope it meets your expectations in person. Interested to get your feedback at that point. Cheers, Brandon

I will follow up for sure.

I think the case will be slim, and I bet on the wrist she sings. We will see.

I like this watch and the date, which usually I can live without, is very discrete.

In fact it could almost be part of the sub seconds dial and will look that way on the 30th of each month (except Feb of course). Regards Kev.

Good point Kev. Would I prefer without?

OK, sure. But I am not bothered with it being included.

Here you go lads, not a date in sight

Will be interesting, indeed, to see how she sits on the wrist. M4

Lovely piece but

is it me or is the 12o'clock so badly truncated so it says VII. I realise V and VII are also truncated but they are still reading correctly to my mind?

Yes, it is you!

 By: MichaelC : June 5th, 2017-07:03
LOL. Maybe it is me. I don't have that issue with it at all. Probably because I have worn a watch my whole life and know that is 12. But, a solution like what Glashutte Original employs is much better: ...

UN can/have done similar

Great to see my old picture again...

This was taken many moons ago, when a very fortunate fellow acquired the mint condition Marine Chronometer for a song from a family in the SF Bay Area, and he kindly brought it by to share it with me as he knew my penchant for UN and in particular their 1...

It is a great comparison shot you took.

Shows how well the 150th Marine Chronometer from 1996 followed the style of the original Ships Chronometers. Yes as you say I believe the platinum 150th Marine Chronometer 269-20 was only produced in a run of 3 pieces. I will do a full review shortly once...
