I succumbed

May 08, 2017,03:11 AM

Dear friends, After helping a few of my fellow Purists brothers obtain this beautiful SBGW253, I finally succumbed. I'm thrilled, to say the least, even if I wasn't planning on buying another watch so soon. It is one thing seeing it in pictures and once in a store, but when seeing it in the metal again and again, all willpower is gone! When you don't plan on drinking, don't offer to buy the beer! ;-) No regrets, and I'm only hoping my fellow owners are enjoying theirs as much. This watch is a marvel that dances with light, and looks different in just about every lighting condition. The size and finally, a thinner GS, has made this one very compelling. Especially after all that unnecessary text on the dial is now gone!

It even looks good on my daughter's wrist!

And it fits both you and your daughter excellently. I suppose you may well lose this one, like your prior GS found another owner in the family I now really need to go to the AD to see it live

Well, at least I have at least a few years still :-)

And she much prefers my GO PI over this one, so this one is safe for now

So you will do a Patek then...

I'll credit you for "helping" the bunch of us. LOL!

LOL! I thought that term is only used for taxes!

Nice one Richard!

It is hard to resist these Seiko re-issues. They do a great job. The value for the money is outstanding in my opinion. Dan ...

I have to agree on the value

I saw a write up on a blog (can't recall which one) that the 253 is the best time only steel watch available today. While there may be other views, I personally am very inclined to agree.

Congrats!

Although I must be one of the rare few that doesn't understand what's the fuss about this watch ( and yes, I have "owned" it for a short while ) other than it's a re-issue of the classic first GS. Anyway, enjoy and wear it in good health.

;-)

One of those things you have to strap on and see in outdoor light to fully appreciate. I think it's probably because there is now less text on the dial, coupled with the amazing finishing of GS and the size to thickness ratio that's close to perfect.

Well...

I did. Still dont get it. Hey, no matter. Different folks, different strokes. Congrats again!

Congrats on a great catch!

So sorry for the late post. I'm a big fan in this and I am happy to see many posts admiring this reissue model of Grand Seiko. This will be my first Grand Seiko! Please wear the watch in good health!
