Thank you Bill. To my aging eyes the cyclop is not only very functional but a true Rolex "signature". [nt]

My foray into the World of Vintage Rolex

 By: Sandgroper : February 21st, 2017-22:07
Until last Friday only one Rolex had found a place in my small watch collection, a Daytona with an El Primero movement . For some reason, I have never been a big fan of Rolex. As my primary school teacher used to tell us, only imbeciles never change opini...

Superbly written post, I must say. You are right, it is all about charm. But I must say that yours is in superb condition, and hey, my friend, what a dial! The even and warm patina of your indices and hands is fantastic. Huge congratulations, and... to th...

Excellent write up and I completely share all your feelings. Equally never really got me thinking of a Rolex, but GTGs are dangerous and I feel the same with some of the vintage Rolex's. Within the next years, I will likely also look into finding "my" vin...

Looks like a 1675 MK4.

 By: Bill : February 22nd, 2017-08:33
Generally the serial range for these mk4 is a 5 to 6 million. But there is always a little room. Looks like you are well on your way into vintage Rolex. Enjoy.

What is the serial range of the watch?

Would love to see more pics. Enjoy.

Dear Bill, I have seen some GMT 1675 without the "cyclop", they do look bizarre to me. I have also....

 By: Sandgroper : February 22nd, 2017-22:19
.....read that the cyclop was optional on the 6542 and very early 1675. Does this sound right? Thank you in advance. Best regards. Francois

I am not sure if no cyclops was an option but I believe a user could request a change.

 By: Bill : February 28th, 2017-08:02
However I have no evidence to support it. Users seem today to customize the watch using a tropic 38 crystal which fits the gmt. But the cyclops is not an aesthetic element but a truly functional one. Bill
