Is there anything special about the D-series Explorer II? ( I'm in a toss up between the Y series and the D series. Ie the Y has the lug holes which I like as part of the "feature" of my Rolex collection; but the D series is newer).

I like the Y series because it still has the lug holes and I think it was the last modern Rolex series with lug holes. Was the D-series noted for anything in particular?

GMT II with Pepsi bezel. No lug holes and solid end links. The Y series may or may not have solid end links, I'm not sure. Otherwise, I don't think there is anything special. Cheers, E
