Rolex: Price of official rolex service

Just went to Rolex Malaysia to do a routine service of my explorer. The service costs RM2100 which is about USD668. Is this reasonable or are they prices roughly standardized? I remember servicing my Submariner 2 years ago in Seoul for around USD500. Thanks.

Independents: Beautiful!

Thanks for the article. I enjoy it tremendously. I could almost hear myself calling it the Japanese "Simplicity". Amazing accomplishment. A few comments if I may. 1) The dial design and features are very beautiful. Much better and way less boring/bland than any Grand Seikos. 2) Hand finishing is exq

Rolex: Explorer II D-series

Is there anything special about the D-series Explorer II? ( I'm in a toss up between the Y series and the D series. Ie the Y has the lug holes which I like as part of the "feature" of my Rolex collection; but the D series is newer). I like the Y series because it still has the lug holes and I think

Rolex: Size is perfect

The 40mm size looks perfect on a 'big' guy like Jason and I don't understand why Rolex wants to go to 42mm. In fact, the 40mm Rolex look perfect on a lot of big size actors. Anyway, he is smart because this is an investment piece.

Rolex: service charge

My submariner service charge is equivalent to 292 pounds. Not a bad deal comparatively but I do think most things in the UK are more expensive. Good to hear the date change is so precise - sometimes I'm kinda obsessed about this

Rolex: Why 7 weeks?

My submariner is currently at the Rolex service center in Seoul. Will take 3 weeks which is what I consider reasonable. Why did yours take 7 weeks? How much was it BTW in Sterling pounds? (I heard the charges are standardized around the world). I saw that service booklet too and I really hope they p

A. Lange & Söhne: Position of dials

No doubt they're all beautiful and rarefied. Now, I always think the point of having an asymmetric hour dial is so that the time peeps out just under your left hand ('majority') cuff so that you can discreetly glance at the time. What do you think? I think ALS should have put the time dial closer to
