I'm feeling ambivalent about my remarks too ;)

In all seriousness, I really do like the RM011 as a watch.  In fact, I would love to have one and may end up buying one.  I just do not particularly like the direction as a brand.  Almost every brand for the last two years has focused on some sort of technical advance:  silicium parts, new escapements, new power storage and delivery systems, etc.

Last year Richard Mille came out with:

005 Felipe Massa - a different dial and case finish of an existing watch
014 Perini Navi - basically a reworking of the 002 movement in a jazzed up case
010 - bigger case, more skeletonized version of 005 movement

This year:

011 - 005 movement with chrono module
016 - new case for 005/010 movement

That's 2 years without a major technical breakthrough or even a new movement.  The last one they made was the 009 but they have not stayed true to the 006 legacy of carrying technology down from their LE "test" models.  The 006 gave us the carbon baseplates.  The 009 technology has not been used in anything.

They're making A LOT of 005's and 010's, so much so that the 5's are very difficult to sell already on the secondary market.  I understand what they're doing, and it is probably a better business move, but it is not what I thought the brand was or wish it would be.
