I have always felt that the 5107 was the star of the Calatrava series.The 5107 is probably the one timepiece that one would want to buy if one was thinking of starting a collection.This simply put, is a great timepiece.To quote Nicholas Foulkes,one of Britain's arbiters of style:"The Ref.5107 is what Patek Philippe does best, embodying the subtle and allusive sotto voce elegance at the heart of the brand".

yet so much about what is written about the 5107 is on the topic of its bezel, or the newer model's rounded one. Someone even compared the new rounded bezel to a body part and presented an analogy with voluptuousness and curves, but I digress. The "whole"...

I like. It is a watch that doesn't try to reinvent the dial with absurd contortions and dubious mechanical achievements. As you say, it is masculine...and beautiful. My only concern would be the back...is it solid or see through? I am from the old school ...
