How many will order 5270 ...... ?

By: tic-toc : October 29th, 2011-00:35
If you already own 5970 ? Will you want the new 5270 ? If yes, why ? I have only seen pictures of this model, but somehow, I still think 5970 rules if to compare with the latest. What is your take ?

I agree completely.

The new 5270 does look nice, but I really don't like the leap year and the day/night indicators. The overall 5970 layout is more classic and something I much prefer.

I totally agree with Ken

The 5270 just leaves me with a cold impression. It just doesn't have the warmth of the classic 5970.

I prefer it.

Both are wonderful, but I prefer the 5270 somewhat over the 5970 on the grounds that it has a less clutterred dial, is slightly more modern looking, and has a Patek movement. Park

I've still not seen it so...

By: Dje : October 30th, 2011-09:50
Hi, I've still not seen the 5270G to know if I like it as much (or more) as the 5970P, one of the best memories of a watch on my wrist ever! All that said, whatever the result I will not order it, but that's another story. Cheers Dje ps: I would be very h...

will i order the 5270 if i already own the 5970?

By: hoehenry : October 31st, 2011-08:14
Yes. the are different. The 5970 is the last of the perpetual chron with the lemenia movement whereas the 5270 is Patek first in house perpetual chron movement. Size wise the new 5270 is just slightly smaller and dial not so cluttered. hoehenry

5270 Lost its unique PP look.

By: jimjenkins : October 31st, 2011-18:40
It looks very similar to Longines Master Collection chrono... IMO. So, I will NOT order it for sure. Also the AM/PM and leap year indicators lost me. You have no idea when will be the next leap year. Is it going to be next year ? or the year after ? When ...

Let's see....

By: foversta : November 1st, 2011-06:55
5270: 5970: I will be honest with you: i prefer the charm of the 5970. I found the 5270, even if it is a great watch, less subtle with bold hands and indexes. Morevoer the less busy dial makes it less complex. Fx...

If I had to choose between the 5970 and the 5270, I would go for the 5970.

And in platinum, for me, as I totally love its black stunning dial. Without any hesitation. Best, Nicolas.

I believe the 5270 is certainly attractive enough, but

if you have a 5970 or a 3970.... why bother? Unless, of course you've just got to have one of each. Personally, I don't want the 5270 because I have that base already covered. Without question, it will be a huge success amongst collectors.

5270 better for the aging eyes

By: ivanclai : November 1st, 2011-18:51
2 very different styles, I prefer the simpler minimalist style 5270, much easier for my eyes. The 5970 with so much markings on the dial just strain your eyes so much. I do not have either but would go for 5270 if I have a choice. Some people like baroque...

5970

By: watch-er : November 2nd, 2011-10:14
I prefer the 5970 over the 5270. I have the 5970 and would certtainly buy a 5270 if money were no concern.

5970 or 5270?

By: Kevin22 : November 5th, 2011-22:45
Congrats Macfever. I too would like to have both! I am looking for the 5970P with the black dial, which I think looks sufficiently different from the silver dial of the 5270G. Have you compared the chrono functions of the 2 watches side by side? I wonder ...

I passed on the 5270

By: jonrus : November 7th, 2011-19:42
In fact, I had 2 AD's calling me recently about them. I think that the high price is just too high, so I had to pass, sadly. It's a sad time for collectors who were used to the old prices and old ways of doing business. I'll simply enjoy the older version...

Chrono pushers

By: macfever : November 10th, 2011-03:12
The pushers of the 5270 are a big improvement over the 5970 ! So smooth and nice to touch compared to the hard pushers on the 5970

5270

By: Myopiccoog : November 21st, 2012-06:10
I ha the pleasure of looking at both and decided on 5270. 1) better profile- doesn't sit as high on wrist 2) size 3) superior movement- the new features are a major upgrade over the old outsourced movement. 4) dial is cleaner and bigger I understand the t...

No brainer if you ask me... 5270G without hesitation

By: Fricks : November 21st, 2012-12:53
Actually love mine so much that i will buy the next metal that will come out. Simply nicer dial that interacts with light and surrounding in a much nicer and interesting than any 5970. Dial is also more clean and pure. I still believe that this one will n...

Yes, have 5970G and still want 5270G

By: winvade : November 21st, 2012-20:45
the movement is smoother and more robust in my own experience. this may not apply to other people. i have 4 5970s and my r went to service twice. also, the 5270 asymmetry starts to grow on me. ...

Love the 5270

By: QueueCumber : November 26th, 2012-09:49
It is the first completely in-house chrono perpetual in over two decades. I would much rather have the 5270 than any of the non-in-house movements, especially since it is their first in-house in a long time, which I think makes it an exceptional piece of ...

For me 5970 P, J and R!

By: tempus : November 26th, 2012-14:16
To me 5970 (I love my 5970P) is noble, maybe the movement of 5270 is a positive evolution but I am not a fan of the design...case of 5970 (not that nice, only bigger and I don't like the crown). Maybe it becomes better with a different colour of the face ...

Lots of thinking

By: patekben : November 26th, 2012-14:29
I have done lots of thinking as I own a 3970. I think 5270 is an exceptional piece. I had the pleasure of wearing and using. As a collector it would be ideal to own 1518, 2499, 3970, 5970, and 5270. Too me they are all in the same league just different ti...
