I've been told that it is indeed much darker than the usual one. [nt]

My sincere apologies.

 By: dr.kol : October 21st, 2016-16:26
I saw today both 40 years Anniversary Nautilus. I was wrong! The pictures of the watches are terrible. First of all, it's impossible to understand from the real watches that the indexes are diamonds. Even when looking through the loupe they do not look li...

Curious seeing some live pictures [nt]

 By: Arie - Mr Orange : October 21st, 2016-16:32

I hope I can take those as promised.

 By: dr.kol : October 21st, 2016-16:46
My name was in the list for both watches. Today I heard it was removed thanks to my posts... Perhaps I would get the 5711P if I could but Alea Jakta Est. Best, Kari

I'm happy to hear that it is a little more convincing

 By: Joepny : October 21st, 2016-16:53
That is good. Looking forward to your pics. Did someone at PP take offense to what you wrote? If yes, then I do not understand why. We are all passionate especially with the amount of money that we spend on watches and it should be understandable that we ...

Well that's logical no? You clearly stated you

 By: Arie - Mr Orange : October 21st, 2016-16:53
didn\'t like them so why be on that list? The first feeling is often correct so why would you want to buy one now? Pictures however would be nice.

Honestly Kari ... I don't understand you

 By: Bruno.M1 : October 22nd, 2016-00:31
I told you, you had to wait to see them irl. Pictures can give a wrong impression You said the watches were bad an now you say the pics were bad. Imo both are great! I was a huge fan of both ... watches and pictures You are smart enough to know that macro...

Bruno: I was wrong. Sorry for that.

 By: dr.kol : October 22nd, 2016-01:18
I got a permission to take a couple of photos today and I will do that in one hour. I'll explain my thoughts when killing the time in the airport lounge. Best, Kari

Alea iacta est ;-)

I didn't know that PP has reintroduced the crime of lese majeste. I'm curious of the back side; is there sapphire glass?

There is.

 By: dr.kol : October 23rd, 2016-07:32
I did not take photos in order not to show the serials. Best, Kari

It seems that there is a sapphire glass and a yellow gold rotor.

 By: patrickh : October 23rd, 2016-07:49
I suppose Kari could confirm...

I confirm. Correct. [nt]

 By: dr.kol : October 23rd, 2016-11:53

Thanks for your feedback Kari

By: Mark in Paris : October 21st, 2016-16:53
These are pieces we won't be able to check in the metal very easily. I saw baguettes indexes in the past, they shine much less than round diamond ones and less also than polished white gold markers we usually have. I wish to write a post about it when dus...

That's really interesting

 By: NML77 : October 21st, 2016-18:00
You are the second person I have heard that from. The other also said that the writing is more discreet than the pictures would indicate and the watches overall are better than they originally thought. However, they are still not inclined to purchase one....

Is it true that if you post negatively on this forum, you can lose your watch allocation?

 By: jonrus : October 22nd, 2016-00:14
How does Patek know the identity of the poster, unless you use your real name? I just want to know the ramifications of posting on this forum Mark...

That's not the case. Negative comments do not remove you from any lists.

 By: dr.kol : October 22nd, 2016-01:22
I told earlier to Patek that I do not want those and I also told openly what I have posted about the watches. I have nothing to hide - not in good and not in bad. And I'm I'm wrong or over-reacting to one direction or other, I have no problems to admit it...

Your question is perfectly relevant

PuristSPro - Watchprosite is, a famous forum discussion place inside this small watchmaking world based on the watch world we love so much. From the early times (15 years ago), the site gathered many collectors and watch fans from all over the world and d...

Hi Kari, you are a true Purist with strong passion and an honest individual. I really applaud you for saying that your initial thinking was wrong, especially given how strong you felt initially.

 By: GLau : October 21st, 2016-21:16
It would be interesting now to hear others who commented earlier (positive, negative, or neutral) to again describe their feelings after seeing these watches in the metal. Cheers, Gordon

+1 [nt]

 By: Arie - Mr Orange : October 22nd, 2016-01:14

Perhaps with your apology, you can convince PP to reenlist you

 By: jonrus : October 21st, 2016-23:57
If I recall, you were the earliest Purist to have some knowledge of the Nautilus LE. I think that they must know you pretty well. Therefore, there should be some room for reconsideration if you change your mind after seeing the watch in person.

Kari, it is GREAT that

 By: patrickh : October 22nd, 2016-01:07
you share your thoughts. Firstly, as you are a NAUTILUS lover and own most of the Nautilus Iconic models. Your first comments on advertising photos (macro) could be understood as most often the rule "less is more" is and stay a golden rule. We all know th...

Hi Kari

 By: Thy1r : October 22nd, 2016-01:17
Happy you! Are they exposed in the salons already? My personal opinion was : - chrono much too big for me as the regular chrono is the maximum size I accept. (And I love it but didn\'t buy it yet because it\'s big) - 5711 very nice. I dreamt of a platinum...

The watches are not available yet as far as I know.

 By: dr.kol : October 23rd, 2016-07:48
The size of 5980 is perfect and I am not anbig fan of Nautilus Offshore idea. Best Kari

Many thanks for your honesty, as usual

 By: ch9698 : October 22nd, 2016-01:50
as you noticed on real pieces, all the defects and bad ways policy we saw, diamond indexes and anniversary printing are not very visible. Ok But there are still there !!! The most part of the criticisms concerned the idea to put that marks on a PATEK Naut...

Thanks. You got it perfectly!

 By: dr.kol : October 22nd, 2016-07:33
It's hard to see that the indexes are made of diamonds. It is not easy to see the anniversary text. But are these features a part of the heritage and legend of Patek Philippe Nautilus? That is anseparate issue. Best Kari

Apology accepted!

 By: russell996 : October 22nd, 2016-02:17
I have to say I was amazed by quite how animated you were about your dislike of the 40th watches and the potential repercussions on other pieces in your Patek collection. I also think some of your wider comments were poorly judged (for these you have alre...

My opinion is changed but it did not turn full 180 degrees.

 By: dr.kol : October 22nd, 2016-07:28
More later with pictures. Best Kari

Can't claim the picture as mine. :)

Posted on TRF.

Hi Mark, I thought that the 5711P and 5711P (40th) both have blue dials that are...

 By: GLau : October 22nd, 2016-09:51
lighter regular production 5711. Am I mistaken ? thanks, Gordon

Gordon, according to the last PP Magazine

 By: patrickh : October 22nd, 2016-10:11
Vol 4 N°2, pages 24 & 25, where all Patek Nautiluses are represented in small photos, new 40th Anniversary models seem to have a lighter blue dial than 5711/1A and their blue dial looks more closer to the 7118/1A (for women). To be confirmed in the metal ...

Thanks Patrickh, I eagerly awaiting for ...

my Patek magazine ! Perhaps I need to go online to the website first. Thanks, Gordon

Beware of pictures on magazines Patrick

The new 40th has a darker dial. Cheers, Mark

I can confirm that. [nt]

Thank you Kari [nt]

The press photos Patek is having

 By: dr.kol : October 23rd, 2016-07:25
are often lousy. Best, Kari

No, for the 40th, it is darker as confirmed by Patek

By: Mark in Paris : October 22nd, 2016-11:03
For the previous 5711P, I don't remember but it seems darker as well. Cheers, Mark

Yes, this is it. [nt]

By: Mark in Paris : October 23rd, 2016-10:22

Kari, i do not understand you!!!

 By: Pateksammler : October 22nd, 2016-07:26
I saw the two watches yesterday and i must say, yes the look better than on the photos, but from my perspektive the 5711 p from the past looks much better, also the chrono is extremly loud and no understatement! Sorry Marcus

If horology is art

And the purpose of art is to provoke emotion. And from emotion, discussion..then PP has succeeded here. As to the pieces "a chacun son gout". I\'m mainly interested in trajectory - will the next offerings be more like these or the 5370p in the other threa...

Apologies accepted,Kari

 By: beejo : October 22nd, 2016-08:12
You are very honest man and no so many people can apologize clearly the way you did does that mean you are getting one? Best, Ahmed

Thank you my Friend. [nt]

 By: dr.kol : October 23rd, 2016-07:27

I wasn't expecting that, but Bravo Kari for your honesty, not everyone is big enough to admit a mistake.

 By: RussW : October 22nd, 2016-08:55
Patek does need to find themselves a better photographer though - I hated both the 5524 and 5990 when I saw the official photos, and I now love both.

If PP allows you to get back the allocation after you see it in person..

 By: jonrus : October 22nd, 2016-17:11
I will congratulate PP for having an open mind!

I think Patek showed

 By: dr.kol : October 23rd, 2016-07:25
great understanding when they allowed me to play with the watches. The permission came from Geneva. Best, Kari

I have a lot of respect for you! it takes

 By: christianch : October 24th, 2016-15:16
courage to say "I was wrong" so I have even more respect for your opinions. As I said I think that one or these belong to your collection Christian
