PP5205G OR 5396G

The PP5396G has the typical Patek vintage look . Whilst the PP5205G is more retro and a modern look which may not go well with the general Patek community.Personally I will go for the PP5396. The latter is very Patek. ad could have passed off as the PP5125.

Considering one of these two pieces and wonder if owners of these two have opinions of how they like them in comparison to each other and also comfort feel on a rather small to average wrist size. Thanks for your opinions.

Two great choices.................

I have the 5205G and love it. The apertures are nicely located and are not covered by the hands, as they are more often with the 5396R. The case of the 5205G is lovely crafted and has the new :Torpedo" style lugs (my terminology) due to the concave style ...

Readability a real problem?

Hi Tony, I was just about to get a 5205G but have seen some of the readability concerns. How bad is it? Do you have problems telling the time in a dimly lit restaurant, for example?

Definitely the 5205G.

I have the 5396R with the first-generation "scientific" dial, which I think is stunning. I waited to see if the 5205 was going to be released in rose gold at Basel 2012, and now I know it isn't, I have put a deposit down on the black dial 5205G. I am a gr...

Same conclusion but...

discovering the 2 new versions of the 5396, I had an heart attack on both : blue dial on white gold case and chocolate dial on rose gold case. But (again), there are launched only with bracelet. Arrrgh ! So I must wait until Patek furnish them with a leat...

5396R is a classic !

IMHO 5396 in rose gold and white dial is an ultimate classic... 5205 is a modern version with better readability of apertures but I just do not appreciate the dial colour combos...grey and darker versions of it are a serious put off for me. So will wait t...

Modern looking annual calendar with instant calendar aperture and combo dial with pierced lugs and concave bezel. It is an elegantly original dress watch for the new Patek model.

both are great...

but I bought the 5396R because it is more classic Patek and I wanted a rose gold on the other hand, 5205 is more stylish so it depends on what are the more important objectives for you you will enjoy either good luck !!

I think its impossible to go wrong in this case

One could easily argue that all three watches could fit very nicely in a collection. My personal favorite is the first gen 5396R

i chose 5205

I went throng the same dilemma. decided on 5205. More readable, beautiful case. Just received deployant clasp, feels much safer. At the end it is very personal. Both are great watches.

Tough choice........

My father-in-law has both pieces so I've handled them both many times. For me, as nice as the 5205g is it would be hard for me to pass up the 5396r. It may be one of the nicest Patek's currently made. Good luck with your decision! Tony
