... but prefer the price of modern.
I like the size of vintage watches, and the design. The 3448 is the perfect layout for a perpetual calendar. Patek should re-introduce it. You don't need to mess with perfection. The 5320 is nice, but doesn't compare to the 3448.
Similarly, the 3940 is superior to its more modern successors.
And the 570. Perfect size for a time-only watch. Perfect Calatrava. Why not have a modern version of it?

.....I have a share of modern and vintage and I tend to wear them all. I wouldn't say I have a preponderance for one over the other. However, as a daily wearer, I would tend to go modern whereas if i am going out for dinner or doing something special, I w...

I think that you summed-up several of these issues well. The vintage watches have a charm that I like to see from time to time (like some old cars). By the way, there is quite a diversity in that field. A rounder early model doesn't look like the flater s...
The definition of "vintage" is also quite relevant...

.....the 5110, for example, is one I would not call vintage but nor is it truly modern. That "transition" phase (at least in my head it is a transition phase) often fills a nice wearing "gap". I do think I look at it based on two key factors. First, is th...

Wayne Dyer...you have a lot to answer for! I keep visualising it on my wrist...blue sky, sunny and warm, blue jeans, crisp white shirt, chilled glass of white burgundy....... ........and 5930G aggggh.

This "transition" phase you're talking about it hte last know one if we put aside the current catalog. Hence, an important part of members participating on the Patek forum have been livng and growing with it for a long while, just as the members in the 19...

That's why I think it is an interesting moment, the kind of time when you get interested in something to see how it works. We'll discover, for each reference, what the outcome is, sometimes very quickly and sometimes after a long while. It is the kind of ...

Even if this model has now this little charm that a watch can only get after it has aged a little. But yes indeed, many watches, from every brands, have known a cold welcome before knowing fame. It is just very difficult to guess which one will be and whi...
