New hands for a 352 Connie

Sep 28, 2016,06:11 AM

Hi guys. For a long time I've been out looking for an early Connie, but with a gold version out of my budgetary reach I have been looking for a gold cap. I managed to get hold of one last week, unfortunately in a sorry state. It's a 352 no. 1248xxxx. I know that the crown and hands are wrong. I've taken it to my local watchmaker in Norway that can get hold of a new crown and glass but not the hands. What are my options for trying to get hold of a set of hands for the watch. My apologies for the bad quality of the picture. Will post some better ones when I get the watch back. Thanks for your help.

I know that Omega still has parts for these watches.

My Omega of similar vintage (probably called for similar hands, although mine is rose gold) got new hands, crown, and crystal along with the rest of the service. All of the old parts were returned as well.

A satisfactory crown won't be a problem . . .

. . . as they can still be found in the stocks of independent parts suppliers. Hands are another issue; replacements I've seen aren't up to par. Your best bet is to search eBay for a cal 352 or 354 movement from a scrapped ref 2652. These usually come wit...

Will keep searching......

Thanks for the feedback so far. Does anyone know which calibre\'s/case references have the correct hands. Is it only the 354/2652? My watchmaker has offered to send the watch into Omega if I want, however I want to maintain the originality of the watch. I...

One factor to keep in mind is that there were at least two dial sizes . . .

. . . for these first generation Constellations, so you have to look for hands from the same reference. I don't believe (although I could be wrong) that hands from a ref 2782 would fit your 2652, even though they appear outwardly similar. Best to narrow t...

Congratulation!

With some love this watch can become very nice! Here's a document of a later version of the Connie that you might enjoy, 1955. +1 on searching the bay for parts. Best Blomman ...

Great document

Great that you have this kind of document about the old constellations. Great to see how they were originally marketed.

Hands for CAL. 351

Can anyone advise if these hands are suitable for my cal. 352? They are stated as hands for a cal. 351, but are they also used for a 352? http://m. Thanks for your help.

That's the right type. The only issue . . .

That's right...

...the hands should be dauphin. I managed to source some calibre 35x dauphin hands that arrived today. I dropped them off at my watch repairer and hopefully I\'ll have the watch back at the end of the week. I will post some updated pictures then.

Back after repair.

Apologies for bumping this one up, but wanted to share the pictures of my 352 constellation post repair. To say the least it has been an ongoing project for the last couple of months. Makes me appreciate how sometimes you need to work closely with a watch...

Congrats! Great outcome! :) [nt]
