SIHH 2018: Novelties in the 1858 Collection - Capturing the Spirit of Mountain Exploration

 By: KMII : January 15th, 2018-04:03
This year's theme in expanding the 1858 Collection at Montblanc is 'Capturing the Spirit of Mountain Exploration' and draws inspiration from Minerva's professional watches from the 1920s and 1930s, which were primarily intended for military use and mounta...

Amazing look!

Are there any info regarding the movement of the two-registers automatic chrono and the simple little second, Kristjan? Yours, Adam

Sure thing...

The Automatic uses the MB 24.15 calibre (Sellita SW200 base), while the 1858 Automatic Chronograph uses the MB 25.11 (7750 based). Hope this helps!

The pocket watch is very cool.

Will provide a more extensive review soon

Not bad at all.

I like what Montblanc is doing by using that logo, I much prefer it to the other one, for me it really helps to separate/ differentiate Montblanc watches from other Montblanc products, and that's VERY good IMO. The Geosphere looks very nice on the screen,...

Thanks Vte!

It does indeed. As does the 1858 Monopusher Chronograph. The 13.21 Calibre is something special and being a bit smaller than the 16.29 also allows for a 40mm case, something I very much like.

Agreed.

Beautiful and special movement, nice to see it in a smaller case. I would have loved to see a different movement for the 1858 Chronograph, at least a manufactured one. Vte

Again agreed!

The Twinfly suitably adapted for this layout would be fantastic. But if the TimeWalker line is an indication this could well happen next year

thanks for sharing KMII

Like the 13.21 chrono in 40mm as well as the Geosphere. Hope to get more info on those.

Thanks MJ23!

I shall provide an update, including live pictures shortly

I'm Green with Envy!

If you had described a green 1858, I would have completely dismissed it as foolish. Seeing the photos, I cannot wait to see ti in the metal. It looks amazing as does the rest of the line. Best of all, IMO, MB has done a great job of diversifying this line...

The other good thing is...

 By: KMII : January 16th, 2018-06:54
That the green 1858 Monopusher Chronograph comes in the smaller, 40mm case and uses the 13.21 movement. As for the movement aesthetics, the tastes may differ and some prefer the larger 16.29, which has more space but the smaller one is no less well execut...

+1 [nt]
