Bracelet or a new watch?

Jun 28, 2017,10:50 AM

Hi Purists! I have a few watches and I wanted a watch on a pt bracelet. Should I put my FPJ on a pt bracelet, pick up a Rolex Day Date 40 or go with ye olde tyme-y Breguet from days of yore? Let me know what you would do and why. Thanks! All wrists pictured are mine and no wrists were mistreated during the taking of these pictures.

No bracelet

I think that steel bracelets fit good just on Rolex, nautilus and royal oak. If I were in your shoes I would not put the Journe on a bracelet because the leather strap fits perfect on such an elegant piece. Secondly I would by the Breguet but, again, with...

Ah, you like the Breguet!

It's 36mm, so smaller than the usual men's watch of today. I want a watch with a bracelet because the leather tends to rot a bit after 2 years, even when treated. So, non-leather options would be good.

Thanks! [nt]

Just to clarify!

I already have the FPJ, on a leather strap at the moment. On a bracelet, it would look a little like this (but with mother of pearl on the dial): ...

No bracelet for the FPJ and Breguet for me. It doesn't work in my opinion... more specifically for the FPJ which is "too" dressy and elegant for a bracelet

I think mainly sporty timepieces can be associated with a metal bracelet. My two cents. Best wishes Alkiro

Thanks!

I've seen non-sport FPJs on a bracelet and they look great...but not really more great than on a strap. This would keep my collection from growing, though (which means more time with each one). Could you give your take on the Breguet? Everyone on TZ hated...

Well, I'm always honest so I much prefer your big date with its snail dial. I'm a little bit biased too because I'm not a chrono fan so it has influence on my "judgment"

Regarding Breguet, in 36mm, I have a preference for the "simplest" timepieces like the 5197 or 5930 for instance with their lovely guilloche dials. But, you know, it's just my taste. And if you love your 3460, don't pay attention to what other people can ...

I always appreciate your honesty!

I think the big date is great, too! The 3460 kinda fades before it. However, a very old-fashioned look that is well-made and under-the-radar is appreciated.

Very true 😉

You're right, the president is so comfortable and I have been wanting this Rolex since it first came out. So, it is a prime choice!

+1 for the president

Love breguet, really find that one dated. I have the big date in blue, would not go smaller for breguet.

Gracias!

Yeah, I think I feel the same.

Updated pics, thanks to bad phone-photoshopping!

Enjoy? These do give a better sense of the watch on a bracelet vs a strap, though. All comments welcome! ...

Decided to go for a new FPJ with bracelet

Likely another blue mother of pearl (or a custom white mother of pearl CS). ...
