Adding a Smart Watch

 By: orahu : July 17th, 2019-15:01
I suspect there may already be a thread or two on such a topic, but here goes anyway. I am a fountain pen and mechanical watch sort of person. That being said, I am seriously thinking of buying an Apple 4 Hermès Edition. I quite simply love the Hermès str...

I won’t be buying any brand of “Smart Watch”...

It will be new today and obsolete tomorrow. Just treat yourself to a Hermes belt and stick with a quality mechanical wrist watch.

Thank you —

I am certainly not a fan of “charging something else each night” and I get the “obsolete when you buy it” premise. Your suggestion is well taken!

I also feel that the principal of recharging...

This unnecessary piece of tech is ecologically unsound.

No, I have not. I am looking forward to the day when wearing a mechanical wristwatch is as anachronistic as riding a horse. I will do it proudly!

That being said, I occasionally feel a pang of jealousy when I see people discreetly checking their watch when they get an email, without having to pull out their phone.

Exactly 👍🏻

Well said, FabR. You already make me feel a lot more aristocratic 😂

Stereotyping are we?

That’s akin to calling people wearing expensive watches you know what. There a place for mechanical watches and a place for smart watches, I happen to enjoy both.

Use to have a Pebble.

Threw it away.

I love my Apple watch

i use it when I run and if I do housework, eg hung a picture as you should not use a hummer while wearing a watch... All othe4 times I wear my real watches... Cheers

Apple Watches for me, most of the time.

I have two Apple Watch Series 0 (from original release) and the current Series 4. Love ‘em for their functionality — instant weather reports, text messages and quick emails, brief phone calls, tracking exercise, conveniently paying at supermarkets and dru...

It appears I'm not the only one who feels this way :-)

I absolutely my love my mechanical watches, but I have a stronger emotional connection to my Apple Watch as it is more tied to my personal values of health and fitness. It may sound like anathema, but in my case it is true. That being said, I love my mech...

And if I may add.

I don’t believe Swiss watch companies understand the concept of customer service at their lofty price points. If I ran my business like them, I’d be dead and they too will be eventually unless they respect their customer.

Wearing them both.....

I’m also seriously considering the AW4 now that it has the ECG functionality - what are your thoughts on wearing 2 watches at the same time? It’s pretty common to see folks with the tracker bands on one wrist whilst the other has a watch, so why not repla...

I tried wearing both, once only.

 By: Ano Nuevo : July 26th, 2019-09:35
Wearing both felt uncomfortable to me, and I got some odd looks from passers by. In four years, I’ve seen exactly one person (an Apple executive, interestingly) who was wearing both an Apple Watch and a mechanical watch. I thought it looked strange, like ...

I bought my wife one but she never have it on her wrist

I think the problem is the battery. Get them working for 3 days with charing the maybe I will get one 😂

I too had an Apple watch but I gave it away

 By: cazalea : July 18th, 2019-07:21
It was a gift to me but it reminded me of having my mother around - exercise more, eat less, do this, go there - so I gifted it to a more regimented person (who could never come to grips with it either) Alas.

LOL

I can relate, Mike!

I bought an Apple Watch

and indeed, it is very clever. In my opinion it does not overlap with my nicer watches. Going to not-so-friendly areas, shooting clays, beach holidays and some wilder leisure time activities. Patek and Rolex are suitable for other type of activities. Best...

I wear an Apple Watch Series 4 daily.

 By: Horo_Traveler : July 18th, 2019-20:30
I can recommend it highly. Although I love my mechanical watches, I wear them less and less. The thing about the Apple watch is I almost never carry my phone any more. You can customize your notifications, so you choose whether you want it to just to tell...

Sorry to see you go!

Joke appart: the only need I would have for a smart watch is the sport side of it, like your Garmin. anything else is redundant with your smart phone. Best, É.
