is there something like the watch EVERYBODY likes ?

 By: Bruno.M1 : July 26th, 2017-08:37
Does it exist, a watch which ticks all the boxes for everybody ? I love a Patek 5070 but I realize others don't like it because of the size, or too small movement, ... Probably everybody will like the Datograpgh movement, but I honestly don't like the dia...

Interesting question!

 By: willski : July 26th, 2017-08:43
I think Speedmaster and Submariner and two strong examples. GMT Master could be up there as well. For the vast majority of 'normal' people a modern Rolex could very well be a very nice 'one and only' watch. Pieces like the Submariner, GMT, Datejust are lu...

I guess you mean it like in terms of it's looks and possibly horological appeal...

 By: shortys home : July 26th, 2017-09:05
... and not necessarily in terms of keeping monetary value or the ability to work as a status symbol. It's a very interesting question, the most likely candidate I think of would be the AP Royal Oak Jumbo... I look forward to supposedly many interesting s...

The FP Journe Bleu is a consensus watch

May be but I'm not sure either 😉

Agreed 100% [nt]

 By: Ares501 - Mr Green : July 26th, 2017-15:30

due to the fact only 150 pieces were produced in Pt.

 By: patrickh : July 26th, 2017-15:24
But if known, and discovered in real, masses could be falling in Love and change this post results ...... Who knows.

I would think the Sub might fit the bill.

 By: TheMadDruid : July 26th, 2017-09:21
I'll be heretical and say I don't care for the Speedy, in any iteration. But the AP Jumbo...yes! Thinking about getting 98% of people to agree on anything is probably futile though.

Wow you don't care for the Speedy?

 By: Harry2 : July 26th, 2017-21:35
I'm interested. Do you actually dislike it or just wouldn't wear it? Would you agree that it is a good looking watch that is well designed and functional?

I find it blah.

 By: TheMadDruid : July 27th, 2017-05:46
Don't know what else to say. And winding it is a chore, at least in my experience. So to answer you, I don't dislike it; I just don't find it interesting.

I completely understand

 By: Harry2 : July 27th, 2017-06:05
However, I think for me it's how often I see it that kills it for me, The watch is great, the history is great. It passed all those tests and it's still being used! But whenever I walk down the street in the Sydney's central business district I see one :/...

The only time I see it is on posts here.

 By: TheMadDruid : July 27th, 2017-08:44
Weird. You see it all the time.

Maybe it's an Aussie thing

 By: Harry2 : July 27th, 2017-19:50
It's tremendously popular here.

I'm sure 50 out of 50 like the P15 Zenith, or maybe 50 ppl like it....so that makes it 100%. [nt]

 By: Clueless_Collector : July 26th, 2017-09:26
Other than this, I agree with Willski, the Speedmaster, Rolex Subs and Daytonas.

The Daytona makes me cringe. All of them

 By: Harry2 : July 26th, 2017-21:36
Not sure why, I think I've just seen it too much. At least the Speedmaster still does EVA. It's a piece of gear, you can't argue with that.

I think I got it

You did say a watch that everybody likes rather than a watch that everybody loves so I have played it safe with the new 1815 chronograph which has swept me off my feet even though I am not normally fond of black dial watches. And if this is too adventurou...

 By: Harry2 : July 26th, 2017-21:33
It just works, it's worn by 'steely eyed missile men' and it's virtually unchanged. We might not all wear one (I for one don't want to spend a significant amount of hard earned cash on something I see everywhere) but I don't think anyone ever looks at a S...

Depends if you mean WIS or everybody

 By: jml_watches : July 26th, 2017-23:23
Hi I think if you just talk about the former - then probably not as we all have views about what we wear. If it's generally everyone, then while it may not be high end horology, then I'd suggest a Seiko Five might be a good bet. If you include the whole r...

Probably a Datejust 116200 - Black stick dial.

I've never heard anyone objectively disregard Omega's Speedmaster . . .

 By: Dr No : July 27th, 2017-20:57
. . . and that covers an awful lot of conversations over the last two decades, on line and in person. Art

Some models are often seen on wrist of almost everybody, especially Submariners, Seadwellers and Datejust, also commonly seen the Seamaster 300chronometer and the Speedy Pro
