I focus on wearability (many know my fixation with the size of the watch!
), cost of ownership, resale value, finishing of movement and accuracy. But most important of all, I would only buy a watch that I truly love just like I would only marry a woman that I was madly in love with! Even then there is no guarantee - I have been married and divorced four times!!!
Fortunately, I am single and hope to remain so but any partner I have would be familiar with my passion for watches and would probably communicate her views about my watch quite delicately (if they were not positive!
) In fact, although I do welcome the views of a partner as they tend to be more creative than I am, I think many a time I would ask their opinions for a mere confirmation that I am loving the right watch! I realise many women get bored with shoes, handbags, watches and even jewellery and see the need for a regular replacement. I think most of my partners would be wise enough once the watch is mine not to say anything negative of the watch since the watch must be loved to be in my small 2.25 watch collection. I for one would never encourage my partner to buy a new handbag or pair of shoes for fear of this eating into my watch fund! (no, no, this is no the reason for the four divorces and I promise you they had all been well looked after
)
So I don't know Richard but I have seen some of your watches on this forum and I think you have exquisite tastes (Not too dissimilar from mine
)). the focus on simple watches is yours as it is mine so I hope the change in strap does help. You have possibly been wearing the same watch for too long but then again, I do that too as the watch normally becomes a part of me.
