It is not uncommon

For important details, like the distinction between Ming's and Massena's responses, to get confused and muddled in the firestorm. As far as Ming's policy is concerned, I don't know where the blacklisting comments are coming from. So far I have only seen complaints that Ming blamed the problems on shipping, and dragged their feet announcing their plan to deal with the issue (send the watches back to be fixed at no charge, or take a refund). Subsequent complaints were about MT's comments on the issue, which were seen as rude. If there is good evidence that someone was blacklisted as a result of trying to refund or fix a faulty watch, I'd love to see the post/thread that goes into it. That would be a much more serious issue.
All that aside, I do agree that Ming can learn from this. I also ordered a 17.09, though I am not too troubled by what is going on right now. As long as there is a way to get issues worked out, even if it isn't as smooth and easy as one might like, it's all good in my book.

What else has Ming done

To draw the ire of enthusiasts? Of course, the poor QC and customer support involved with the recent Massena collaboration deserves a good scolding, but it seems as though the watch-o-sphere is letting out a great deal of pent up rage at the brand. I have...

I really don’t know why people keep basing the brand , any person or company can make a mistake (or two) but everyone knows most people learn from there mistakes so i am convinced Ming also will learn and come out stronger.

Similar story when AP released the Code 1159 . Think its all about satire that turns into a cancel campaign , we see these things a lot on Social Media lately. I love a little humor and don’t take Social Media that serious tbh . I know Ming will do his be...

Nice shots :)

Yeah, the craze around the 11:59 also felt way too extreme for me. Enthusiasts always poke at AP for doing nothing new, and then when they finally do something new, everyone freaks out! Sure, many of the models may have been misses, but I was expecting so...

Customer service is still important to a lot of people

 By: Poky : August 6th, 2021-22:21
although it has become worse across the board. When you sell a lot more than you ever did and make a healthy profit why be bothered about a few complaints? COVID has been a great cover for providing an appalling customer service. I personally stay away fr...

Customer service is very important

Particularly for products that are meant to last a considerable amount of time. Still, even brands with great reputations will make mistakes. I haven't been following Ming since the beginning. If this 17.09 mess is par for the course for them, then stayin...

It’s not just watches. Outrage is everywhere, over everything.

But on watches themselves, it’s a storm in a tea cup. Two of my last five watches were from small independents. The first arrived broken: the hands had collapsed in on themselves and were unresponsive to the crown/stem. The second I wore three times and t...

Sorry to hear

About your experience with those watches. I agree that some leeway should be given to small operations, but watches are expensive luxuries (for most of us anyway) and they should arrive without issues. That being said, as long as any issues are resolved b...

Couldn't agree more

It is really hard for the small businesses. Some good stuff has come out of the internet and the digital age but it is stripping away what it is to be human and have social interaction. If they made a movie about today in the 60s, it would probably be cal...

Well said . Exactly my point too.

Most of my collection are smaller independent brand and i hardly had any issues with them and when i did had one it was almost always perfectly fixed and handled . But have seen also bad services from big brands and people still buy these products

In response to the replies...

I can only add that a relationship with a small watchmaker cannot be simply transactional. Yes, these things can cost a lot of money, and yes, it's disappointing if something goes wrong. But they are not large, impersonal businesses with layer upon layer ...

I try to buy watches

 By: mhz vph : August 7th, 2021-22:04
Not watchmakers or brands. I agree with the sentiment that small brands and passion projects should be given a level of respect and forgiveness that we don't owe to the big brands. But I would argue that an individual buyer's relationship with a small ind...

it is insta effect...everyone can tell anything that they'll not tell in one's face !

we'll have the next 'talking topic' & ppl will forget this and move on. Ming - if continues to offer good watches & learn - they'll still be popular with the same collectors.... Best, mahesh.,

That is the one saving grace

Of all internet 'controversies' - there will be something else to get mad at and people will move on and forget about the previous spat. Well said.

When 2 become 1

Firstly, I think Ming's response to their customers could certainly have been better. Now, what has happened, is that the Internet seems to have merged the response from one customer, to the Massena issue. Ming never told any Massena customer that their w...
