Daily beater.

During the last 10 years, I have been asked two times about the Patek I wore. The other time I had a Nautilus and the other time an Aquanaut. Obviously those are getting too common.

I wore a Rolex from 1986 till about 2000. Tens of times people noticed and commented my watch.

And I wanted to find something understated. Many months ago I bought a Grand Seiko and today I put it to my wrist. Feels very very good and nobody will realise that actually the watch represents pure quality.

Best, Kari

Not sure for your travels to Asia...

But the chances of someone recognising it for what it is in Europe - apart from at watch GTGs - is between slim and remote

Same here :) [nt]

Definitely under the radar

Always good to have something only you appreciate. Though my Reverso has only ever drawn one comment in 16 years & that was from someone who's father was a jeweller. I still keep looking at Grand Seiko, an awful lot of watch & something most people wouldn...

I just purchased my first GS this Christmas...

The quality, esp the dial work, is insane for the money! ...

Welcome to the secret society of GS!

This is my equivalent from about 10 years ago. Even today I love it. Soon after I got it I put my Zenith El Primero up for sale. The ad was answered locally by a big-wheel administrator at my wife’s school district. We made an appointment to meet for coff...

What a great story

You both obviously have good taste. And I’ve never seen on on someone’s wrist. Not even in the Sydney boutique!

Time to get one? [nt]

Already done! [nt]

We are celebrating new year in the middle of nowhere

in a nice spa hotel. Mostly swimming and spending time in restaurants and for the women some treatments. Here GS is absolutely the right choice. Best, Kari

Like I said, it's "just" a Seiko.

Only when looking closer, one starts to see the difference. Best, Kari

👌👍😄 [nt]

Stay clear from any MB&F Machines and any Urwerk piece..

 By: Fjan : December 29th, 2017-20:28
They are just too provocative for a daily beater. RMs surprisingly are great for everyday especially those ultra flat series.. GS and Rolex are great everyday watches too. 👍🏻

MB&F, Urwerk or RM are for sure

not my cup of tea. I'm simply too old and conservative. Best, Kari

You and I are in the same boat

I no longer wear Rolex, even though it’s the brand that got me into this hobby. My limited edition GMT is on my wrist right now, it’s beautiful and very satisfying. Without a doubt a keeper I think. Enjoy my friend! Hopefully you’ll bond with this one and...

I like Rolex a lot.

 By: dr.kol : December 30th, 2017-01:30
But Rolex gets a lot of attention. It's much easier to wear Patek as an example as nobody really realises what it is. A GS is "just" a Seiko. Best, Kari

Or an obscure independent!

 By: Harry2 : December 30th, 2017-14:18
Yes you’re right. I think I could spot a Patek from about 100m, but then again, look at me! One might think I have a passing interest... It is certainly much better to fly under the radar though.

Same with me -

 By: dr.kol : December 30th, 2017-23:58
I can spot any Patek from distance but not a GS. Best, Kari

I really can't argue against.

 By: dr.kol : December 30th, 2017-01:27
Plus the new AD offered me a great price; about 4k. Best, Kari

+1 agreed! [nt]

Seiko component

Do you know some components of Seiko watches are manufacture/process in 🇸🇬 upto few years ago if it has not shift it operation to cheaper venue.

I got a Friend working in Seiko 🇸🇬 plant back then.

 By: iceheller 1945 ✌️ : December 30th, 2017-20:09
He even when Japan parent plant.

Great choice. GS really makes great watches.

Ever since I started looking at them, I was hooked. They keep absolutely the best tome out of any watch in my winder. And the worsmanship and pure tactile quality is great. Nice, understated and appreciated by the connoisseurs.

I can't say about the accuracy yet

 By: dr.kol : December 30th, 2017-23:57
but I agree with everything else you stated. Best, Kari

I haven’t measured it in any scientific way.

 By: zabreg1 Mr White : December 31st, 2017-02:43
But they seem to be miles ahead (meaning more precise, not fast, hahaha).

My PP 5650G makes -0.2 seconds per day.

 By: dr.kol : December 31st, 2017-08:46
If GS can beat that, I'll start to speak Japanese. Best, Kari

I can’t possibly attest to that.

 By: zabreg1 Mr White : December 31st, 2017-10:11
It’s an eye test.

Lots of hype

 By: watch-er : December 30th, 2017-17:33
on Seiko these days. Been there done that.

Love the red on this watch.

 By: Sportster : December 30th, 2017-19:18
Great colours!

Red hand makes it easy to read the home time.

 By: dr.kol : December 30th, 2017-23:55
I think the GMT complication is very well executed. Best, Kari

superb post Kari
