... it MAY, I repeat, MAY, depend on one's net worth, bank account, salary, bonus, cash available and allocated to watches. I have two watches that is really nice for occasions when I do physical labor, walking or running in the hot/humid weather with camera equipment (I put my hands into the bag full of mechanical equipment - meaning the watch would be subject to lots of abuse). I believe I posted on wristscan sometime ago. I bought a NOS Stocker & Yale 490 for $160, which has ETA movement, manual winding, very reliable and accurate enough, and if I may add, cool looking. My beater watch. I have also a spare of the same one, bought used for $50. As you know, Stocker & Yale watches are made for military usage and made to endure and last.
On the upper side - I don't know. I have never been there and may not be there forever It may make sense to some people (they exist, because someone actually buy them). If I had such cash, it MAY. Today, I don't know because I am not in the position to buy such one.
YMMV very much.
My 0.02 yen.
