Enjoyed the food ...

Celebrating a friend's birthday over dinner and watches!

 By: jrwong23 (aka watchthebin) : March 14th, 2014-09:46
I had a stressful week at work today and TGIF! Whole week I was looking forward to this day. A few of us friends and Purists in Singapore gathered for dinner to celebrate a dear friend's birthday. The theme was gold... all that glitters. Just gold, no pla...

Chopard urushi lacquer dial also has gold dust

I believe that in some forms of urushi work, gold dust is sprinkled on the painted surface before the final lacquer coat. Thanks for the GTG report. Regards, MTF

Very true MTF

I forgot to mention that. And also the PP has a rose gold rotor. Thanks for your inputs! The Chopard Urushis are growing on me. My only concern is I can't carry them well. Cheers Robin

Happy B-day! :)

Looks like you had a great time! :) And that Stefan was joining.... And that he brought some new catches! ;) Best Blomman

Stefan is famous for his watches!

I didn't even mention him and you could already spot him from the watches! :p Blomman, Stefan did mention you last night. He is eyeing your watches apparently. ... Hehe Cheers Robin

LOL! I can spot Stefan from miles away! ;)

No wonder - we are two friends, hunting the same targets...! If he mentioned me, I hope in not too bad words... ;) Best Blomman

Only good stuff Blomman!

Love the vintage JLCs in both wrist and pocket watch. Really impressive wrists showed up. What do you think of the Yellow gold Boutique American 1921 compared to the normal RG version? Had you seen it before? That is a rare piece, too. Best, respo

New York Boutique Amercian 1921

 By: jrwong23 (aka watchthebin) : March 14th, 2014-18:13
It belongs to one of our dear friends. I thought it is 4N rose gold instead of yellow gold? I may be wrong. The non LE 1921 should be 5N rose gold being redder in color. I actually like the regular edition better but my friend likes this LE NY boutique ve...

Me, too

 By: respo : March 14th, 2014-21:04
Right you are Robin, the non LE 1921 is 5N gold, which is rose in color. The original specs for the Boutique version merely refer to the gold as yellow, but maybe it is 4N. It sure looks yellow to me in person. Here is an image I stole from the web of two...

Robin the Greedy agrees with Respo the Greedy

Having both is indeed ideal! ;) The NY boutique LE may indeed be yellow gold. I think I mistook it for the other Historique ultra thin (I recall you have that) with the ultra thin good calibre. That is 4N rose gold and looks more yellow than 5N rose gold....

No prizes...

Guess which ones :) One of our friends couldnt make it last min so I brought 2 more than the usual 2 to cover him for a more complete table shot :) Cheers Robin

Hi Gordon Yep we had a great time! It's the Fishes not the horse. The Horse is very new, just launched this year. You can check out the posts on the Chopard forum on the new Urushi Horse. Stunning piece! Cheers Robin
