Welcome! The 1966 Steel is a great watch!

"Timeless elegance"!

About the 1791 on the dial - the 1966 Steel was introduced in 2015 (November) without the 1791 on the dial.
In 2016, due to the 225 anniversary, the 1791 was added on all dial (all models).

So yours is most likely from the first batch in 2015/2016.

My very first post on here....... Captured a nice shot that nicely showed the different reflections off the applied indices. A 3 hander watch where the design seems deceptively simple, but it has loads of nice subtleties that enhance the overall feel grea...

brother, the 44 version, as a 1st and only GP since the end of last year and love it. As for your question, I am not certain, but, based on initial review photos and the current GP website, it does look GP has added "1791" to the dial of the 40 version si...

Congrats and very warm welcome here

you came to the right place. As for the 1791, this was added in 2016 for the 225th anniversary, but I think it's better without on this dial, so you did well.

Welcome and congrats for the GP!

The 1966 are growing on me. I really like the sober beauty of the dials, size (of course I mean the 38mm version, not the 44mm atrocity) and the simple but elegant bezel and case. About your question, I guess you mean this model. You can find both the 38 ...

FYI - the smaller one is 40, not 38.

As for the 44 being an "atrocity", maybe spend less time being an internet tough guy and more time in the gym, and you might then get a wrist nice enough to appreciate the 44's style and beauty? Until then, happy typing. ;-)

Believe me,

it is not about wrist size (because we both know size matters ), it is just about taste. A 44mm dressy watch looks to me like a 34mm diver. Enjoy your GP and don't feel ofended by my humble opinion. Cheers

Welcome! The 1966 Steel is a great watch!

Thanks for the follow-up. I had the impression the "1791" was only on the larger dial versions to make up for the larger patch of blank space...
