L.U.C Quattro
The contemporary gentleman’s icon

Chopard introduces a new interpretation of the emblematic L.U.C Quattro watch, a stellar member of the L.U.C collection family. Driven by a L.U.C movement with a nine-day power reserve, COSC-certified L.U.C Calibre 98.01-L, it is synonymous with contemporary elegance. The new vertical silver-toned dial makes a chic match with the 18-carat rose gold case. Complete with new calfskin leather straps, its distinguished style disrupts conventions and offers a modern take on aesthetic purity through subtle details creating an edgy, sophisticated and distinctive appeal.

The L.U.C Quattro is one of the major watches in the L.U.C collection. This pillar of the Chopard Manufacture production uses a uniquely slim high-end calibre offering a nine-day power reserve. Even aside from its horological accomplishments, the new L.U.C Quattro is an aesthete’s dream, clearly designed for the contemporary gentleman. The modern spirit of its redesigned dials and new straps, together with its “Poinçon de Genève” certification, make this a chronometer to be worn proudly, and admired.

Purity meets elegance
Spurred by the success encountered by the new design of its L.U.C XP and XPS collections in 2017, Chopard is extending their aesthetic principle to one of its stellar models. The L.U.C Quattro thus now welcomes two pared-down dials entirely in tune with the times. The first is silver-toned and vertical satin-brushed across its entire surface, swept over by a set of blued hands.
This timepiece features the signature L.U.C Quattro 6 o’clock subdial, containing both small seconds and a pointer-type date indication. Its graduations have been refined and simplified. Exactly opposite, at 12 o’clock, sits the nine-day power-reserve display also emblematic of the L.U.C Quattro, shaped like a fan unfurled over a 180° angle. The minute circle is punctuated by two large 3 and 9 o’clock Arabic numerals, and by blued applied hour-markers. Their shape is an extrapolation of the Dauphine-fusée type hands typical of the L.U.C collections, enhanced in this instance with Super-LumiNova.

Sophisticated materials
The case of the L.U.C Quattro measures 43 mm in diameter and is crafted from 18-carat rose gold. Its caseband is satin-brushed, its bezel polished and its back hand-engraved. The scrupulous attention required by the “Poinçon de Genève” quality hallmark has been lavished on this model that comes fitted with a strap featuring styling and material making their first appearance in the L.U.C collection. The bracelet is made of woven-effect blue calfskin leather with an alligator leather lining.

Exceptional mechanism
At the heart of the L.U.C Quattro beats one of the original movements developed and produced by Chopard Manufacture, the Calibre 98.01-L. It is distinguished by the patented Quattro technology. Its two pairs of stacked barrels endow this certified chronometer with a maximum 216 hours of autonomy, while keeping it surprisingly slim at just 3.7 mm thick. This in turn gives the L.U.C Quattro a peerlessly slender and elegant profile.

Chopard’s in-house approach to watch manufacturing
Chopard is a family-owned Maison imbued with a strong sense of independence. The various stages involved in making L.U.C watches are conducted within the group’s own production sites in Meyrin and Fleurier. Movement development, design of the finished product, gold casting, stamping and machining of cases, movement parts and bracelets, traditional hand-crafted decorations, surface treatments, polishing, assembly, adjustment and quality control: this entire range of watch production operations is fully mastered in-house by Chopard and applied to the creation of each L.U.C watch.

Mille Miglia Racing Colours
Racing in style

Rosso Corsa, Speed Silver, British Racing Green, Vintage Blue and Speed Yellow were the colours allocated to the various nations competing in the world of motor racing. To celebrate the 30th anniversary of the partnership between Chopard and Mille Miglia, the Maison is presenting a new collection composed of five Mille Miglia Racing Colours watches. A re-edition of an historical Chopard collection featuring unique dials and intended for gentlemen drivers and collectors. They pay tribute to the heyday of motorsports and to an exclusive race, the Mille Miglia, widely referred to as “la corsa la più bella del mondo”.

Chopard and the Mille Miglia, bound by passion or more than 30 years
For 30 years, the hearts of Chopard and Mille Miglia have been beating as one, echoing a shared love of fine mechanics and performance born from the personal passion for classic cars nurtured by Chopard Co-President Karl-Friedrich Scheufele. He is both a discerning connoisseur of collector’s cars and an accomplished driver. For the past 30 years, he has been exercising his skills at the wheel of the most prestigious classic cars, with which he annually competes in the famous race. The now indivisible ties, first established in 1988 when Chopard become partner and official timekeeper of the Mille Miglia, inspired an eponymous watch collection presented that same year. The prestigious annual endurance rally sees more than 400 historical cars covering an enchanting one thousand-mile route from Brescia to Rome and back. This legendary competition has led to the creation of iconic watches bearing the Chopard signature.

Legendary colours
National colours for motor racing were first attributed in the 1910s. In order to identify the nationality of the competing drivers, one colour was allocated to each country. Bright red Rosso Corsa for the Italians, British racing green for the United Kingdom, grey-white for the German “silver arrows”, yellow for the Belgians as in their national flag, and finally blue for the French Bugattis and Talbots.
This provides a valuable explanation behind the historical colours of various speed machines. The fact that Ferraris are red and Aston Martins are green is no coincidence, instead stemming from the earliest great races, of which the Mille Miglia was one of the most popular.

Dashboard instrument
This collection comprising five different colours is an opportunity for unconditional fans of the Maison to acquire a collector’s model and to match their outfits with one of these dials.. or with the bodywork of their car. An original means of mingling two consuming and often shared passions for fine watchmaking and historical racing cars.
These Mille Miglia Racing Colours are finely crafted 42 mm chronographs assembled by the Chopard master-watchmakers in 300-piece limited series for each dial colour. Their calibre beats at 28,800 vibrations per hour and is COSC-certified, ensuring chronometer-worthy precision throughout the 42 hours of its power reserve. The Mille Miglia Racing Colours chronographs are inspired by the cars that competed in the Mille Miglia between 1927 and 1940. The dials display optimal legibility thanks to broad Arabic numerals that are luminescent at night, as are the hands. The slim cursive fonts, as well as the counters, are inspired by the typical dashboards of the late 1920s and stand out by their silver-toned colour. The sweep-seconds hand features a bright red tip to tick off the precious seconds of the race. The arrow-shaped Mille Miglia logo appears at 12 o’clock in the heart of the dial. A successful blend of precision, comfort and elegance, these watches are authentic auxiliary instruments for drivers hurtling along Italian roads, enabling them to race in true style. The chronograph functions serving to measure short times are complemented by the tachymeter scale, which is ideal for measuring average speeds, along with a date display.

Water-resistant and luminescent
Although less common in Spring when the Mille Miglia takes place, rain can sometimes play its part in the race, in making the 50-metre water resistance of this watch can prove particularly useful. In rainy conditions, mean hourly speed is never quite the same, and some teams end up finishing the race at night. In such cases, the luminescent hands help competitors keep track of the tachymeter scale surrounding the hour-markers, without taking their eyes off the road.
The new Mille Miglia Racing Colours symbolise their owners’ authentic passion for racing and classic cars: a passion that a true gentleman driver will never relinquish.

Happy Sport
Chopard celebrates the 25th anniversary of its iconic model with a new interpretation uniting its finest skills

Twenty-five years ago, its launch marked the birth of an icon and more; a certain vision of independence, modernity and freedom of movement. Happy Sport now enriches its repertoire of stylistic versatility with the strength of a self-winding movement specially developed by Chopard Manufacture. It also adds a precious and delicate touch with a pastel-coloured textured mother-of-pearl dial. Pure technical strength, shimmering under a mantle of light.

Happy Sport, a revolution
In 1993, Chopard Co-President Caroline Scheufele effectively captured the spirit of the times in designing a sports watch based on an original and astounding association between steel and diamonds. Embodying unprecedented audacity, the Happy Sport was born. In harmony with the spirit of the Happy Diamonds that grace its dial, whirling like skaters performing free variations between two sapphire crystals, the Happy Sport soon became a powerful emblem of the Geneva-based Maison and of feminine watchmaking. Ever since, it illustrates an inimitable sense of chic embedded in its DNA. This incredibly alluring style icon plays the mix & match game and revels in combining various genres and repertoires, steel and diamonds, the eternal and the ephemeral.

A Manufacture movement: the spirit of time
To celebrate its 25th anniversary, Chopard transports the Happy Sport into a new era: that of an encounter with the other facet of the family-run Maison, the watch Manufacture. Chopard has drawn on its watchmaking expertise to endow the Happy Sport Manufacture with a mechanical self-winding movement, the 09.01-C, exclusively developed for 30 mm ladies’ watch cases. “Having it all” is the perfect motto for the women who choose the Happy Sport Manufacture. Feminine and technical, playful and radical, precious and modern: through the sheer diversity of its qualities, the icon of the Maison Chopard represents the quintessence of a successful watch model. This creation bears witness to Chopard’s ever more seamless integration of its two centres of excellence – the result of a unique combination of the myriad skills and expertise contributing to the grandeur of Haute Horlogerie and High Jewellery.

Suffused with a soft glow
Technical strength, shimmering under a mantle of light. The Happy Sport makes no concessions. The heart of the dial is suffused with the depth and wealth of textured mother-of-pearl. The soft glow of this exceptional material features the infinitely varied and unique shades drawn from the heart of the shell, sheltering its most precious curves. The silky iridescence of textured mother-of-pearl, its rarity, and the singularity of its naturally occurring wave-like motifs endow each Happy Sport with unique character. This luminous heart framed by a 30-mm case is available in four versions: a blue dial with a gem-set steel case; a pink dial with a steel and 18-carat rose gold case; a white dial with an 18-carat rose gold case; and a white dial with a gem-set 18-carat rose gold case.

A palette of delicate colours echoes the subtle shimmer of textured mother-of-pearl. Soft pastels offer an inexhaustible source of visual delight, where the gaze can linger at leisure. A haven of tenderness to lift the spirit. A gentle celestial blue, an invitation to a land of dreams, where the eye can wander freely in contemplation of the clouds billowing through the imagination. A serene shade of blue. And then of course pink. The pink of a blush, the pink of femininity and the prism of optimism that one adopts to see life at its most beautiful. And finally, an immaculate and timeless white, the meeting point of all wavelengths, fulfilling our desire for gentleness and our quest for balance with its pristine radiance.

These chromatic landscapes are enlivened by the mesmerising presence of five moving diamonds that appear to be whirling above the dial, feather-light and supremely innocent. Happy Diamonds offer wearers of the Happy Sport watch the perpetual sight of an infinite dance, echoing their every movement. A pas de deux, a single momentum and a sole horizon: that of freedom and joie de vivre.

Happy Hearts
Chopard’s Big Heart

Chopard has made the Big Heart the emblem of the Maison, reinterpreting it in its collections as a recurrent reflection of its creativity and a distinctive token of its values. Chopard dedicates its Happy Hearts collection to every woman with a Big Heart, through creations worn like a visible talisman of happiness. Interpreted in a wide range of colours, Happy Hearts now welcome a new Tahitian mother-of-pearl version.

The heart, a Chopard signature
“If I were to associate Chopard with a motif, it would be a Big Heart because there is a family behind it”. It is in these terms that Caroline Scheufele, Co-President of Chopard, explains the importance of the values that have forged the shining reputation of the Geneva-based Maison: altruism, generosity and benevolence are the essential qualities governing the vibrant creativity and the taste for aesthetic wonderment cultivated in the ateliers of this family-run Maison. Above and beyond its stature as the symbol of lovers, it evokes the heart as a giver of life.

Happy Hearts, a visible talisman of happiness
The Happy Hearts collection undoubtedly embodies all that Chopard represents, through a perfect alliance between its Heart emblem and the iconic moving diamonds concept that has shaped the renown of the Maison. The Happy Hearts collection provides anchor points for moments of happiness by connecting them with objects that evoke fond memories whenever they are seen. These creations are a visible token of happiness, to be passed on from generation to generation as testimony to the happy moments when they were received as gifts. A cherished talisman for all women who share a sense of selflessness and generosity - all those with a Big Heart - each Happy Hearts model stems from Chopard’s subtle ability to capture fleeting and precious moments of life within a timeless object.

Tahitian mother-of-pearl hearts
The heart of these Happy Heart models takes on a protective role, welcoming a broad palette of colourful stones to give free rein to women’s imagination as they change jewellery in tune with their outfit, thereby perfectly matching the woman they wish to be each day. Thanks to the inventiveness of the Chopard workshops, a Tahitian mother-of-pearl interpretation now joins the existing versions in red, pink, blue, green and turquoise, along with the diamond, mother-of-pearl, onyx, malachite and tiger’s eye variations.

Precious and rare, delicate and iridescent, Tahitian mother-of-pearl is a noble material sourced from the treasures of the sea. Harvested from the heart of shells, it is a symbol of tenderness and love. Tahitian mother-of-pearl, enhanced by glowing 18-carat rose gold, makes its grand entrance into the collection with earrings and a matching bangle whose two ends are respectively tipped with a large mother-of-pearl heart and another smaller one featuring a moving diamond dancing between two sapphire crystals.

The BIG news from Chopard is a small THING

 By: MTF : March 14th, 2018-04:22
KIH, Thanks for the preview. There are many new goodies from Chopard this year and even more at Baselworld. The biggest news is a small object....the in-house mechanical movement for the 30mm ladies Happy Sport watch. They chose the Happy Sport to premier...

LIVE photo of the L.U.C Quattro 2018 model for another view

 By: MTF : March 14th, 2018-14:36
alkiro, I understand tastes vary but I also noticed that the live photos that I took look different from the Press images. It may not change your mind but at least have more data to decide.... The hands are very blue and the case has both brushed and mirr...

Thank you Melvyn for these additional live pictures

 By: Alkiro1 : March 14th, 2018-15:32
I think the main element which bothers me with this watch is the combo pink gold / blued hands, numerals and indexes which doesn’t work for me. With a white gold case, my feeling about this timepiece would be different for sure. And 43mm is definitely too...

He he 😁

 By: Alkiro1 : March 15th, 2018-00:42
Best wishes Alkiro

I agree

I prefer the aesthetics of the older models. Though the sub-dial is an improvement over my 2017 model.

I remember your fascination with Rosso Corsa in 2015

 By: MTF : March 14th, 2018-14:30
FrX, I remember your fascination with rosso corsa during a walk in Rome back in 2015 [CLICK] The racing red is most compelling for me too as it is also a lucky Chinese colour. My red dachshund likes it too... In Rome with rosso corsa Red likes Red Regards...

Ah ah so true!

This red dial watch was my best Chopard souvenir in Rome! Maybe I will wear the red chronograph this summer... Fx

The LUC Quattro - looking forward to seeing it in this version...

I know that the blue hands and markers may not be to everyone's taste but they are certainly done in an intriguing way here. And I definitely enjoy brushed RG, so the case holds quite some appeal, too. Let's see what it looks like on the wrist
