More on the iconic Blancpain 1735
Feb 18, 2018,02:45 AM
Dear fellow purists,
I already mentioned my recent encounter with what can rightfully be called one of the significant milestones in modern watch history, the Blancpain 1735 Grande Complication.
I‘d like to share some more photos with you, although please note that particular those showing the backside do not at all bring justice to the beauty and marvelous execution of the movement. You need very good light and actually a loupe to enjoy it (even then you have difficulty due to the deep movement), and I was probably running out of talent a bit in mediocre lighting conditions 😉
The 1735 was introduced in 1991 with only 30 pieces produced over time. Each watch was decorated and assembled by one and the same master watchmaker, it took almost a year to get a 1735 finished. The watch consists of 744 pieces, combining a Grande Sonnerie with a Tourbillon, a Perpetual Calendar with moonphases indication and a Rattrapante Chronograph, all in a 42mm platinum case.
Of course Blancpain pays tribute to this spectacular watch in their Le Brassus farmhouse:
Here are a couple of more shots, again my apologies for not capturing the beauty of the movement. Also I have to admit that I missed to record a sound file of the repeater with it’s still crystal clear sound. Hope you enjoy nevertheless 😎
I am in the process of producing a full report on my visit to Le Sentier and Le Brassus, please allow a few days. But here’s a small teaser:
Have a wonderful Sunday everyone!
Cheers
Henrik
