Pre-SIHH 2018: Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore Tourbillon Chronograph with contemporary dial design
Nov 14, 2017,11:05 AM
AP will be celebrating the 25th Anniversary of the Royal Oak Offshore, and here are 2 new Offshore variants - the AP Offshore Tourbillon Chronograph in stainless steel & pink gold.
Each version is limited to 50 pieces.
Crown & pushpieces are now in black ceramic instead of metal & rubber found on older models.
Cheers,
Anthony

M. Bennahmias has been saying for years that they are working on an in-house chronograph movement but apparently producing one is very difficult. Poor AP, it was the same with Volkswagen - so hard to reach environmental standards without cheating...

I rather give no feedback if not positive. However, what did they think when they created this? Nothing to do with Genta. About time they really invest in something new, not iteration number xxx. So I think this ticks NO box in any of the criteria of a ni...
I agree with your points.

I looked at these pictures and I don’t like the dial . Feels a little too in your face for me. Ap offshores always had a way of being modern yet tasteful but these seems a bit much . It also kind of reminds me of a concord c1 . As an AP fan - it is a litt...
Interesting, but...

Is it an OffShore or not, the bezel although interesting leaves me cold. My favorite bezel design is the Barrichello, different but still true to the Royal Oak and OffShore heritage. This makes me uncomfortable looking at it, it's missing it's soul, the b...
I fully agree with your views.

When I saw this "Offshore", I was speechless (but not in a positive way). AP tampering with the spirit of the ROO makes me feel queasy inside. But then, I think about the creased edges of the Chris Bangle era of BMW's and how everyone at that time thought...
No Thank You

These new ROOS are hideous. And I say this as a AP fan. Looks like some kind of smashed-up transformers parts.
They look great

I like them - they are to celebrate 25years and to have something different but similar is a good move. I wish they would do a Chrono version so it’s affordable for us mortals...
Just saw the re-edition of the ROO.

Now for something completely different! My first reaction is “interesting “, second “very contemporary”, third “looks huge”. Need to see one on my wrist to decide if I really like it. I am still more of a Jumbo fan, some things never change.
I've seen easier ways...

...to read the time. So many big brands get caught up in 'showing off' and lose sight of the main function of their products.
I love this one a lot.

There is a kind of energy on the dial, I have the feeling to see a moving fan. I love this watch which redesigns the usual ROO approach. Fx
Just spectacular!

I love these new daring designs from AP. Can’t wait to see what else they have coming for us. EPIC designs AP!
I have two observations:

1. I suspect a good number of people will change their minds when they see them in the flesh. Some of the details are fantastic IMHO. The bezel design is very well done. 2. Plenty more to come for SIHH these are just the first three and there will be plen...
