To research and collet JLC is a teasure hunt!

You never know what you will find around the next corner...

Not sure if any other Manufacturer produced that many different watches like the one from Vallée de Joux!

Thank you for your kind comments, Tim!

When you wish time stood still...

By: blomman Mr Blue : March 29th, 2014-15:22
Don't you have those days when you wish the time stood still or at least slowed down? Guess that will never happen, in the stressful, rushing society we live in... The closest you get to make time slow down might be to use a 24h dial... And if you are a J...

Ah, a Treat, and enjoying a Postmodern revival of sorts...

Thank you for the excellent photo essay. Although I'm not terribly familiar with this model, exploring the universe of past products is an essential part of the JLC fan experience. I feel like there's always a new (old?) piece of history waiting to be dis...

Interesting prop to go with the watch as well, that piece of wood.

 By: Ruckdee : March 29th, 2014-20:12
I bought something similar some months ago but redder and shinier. I have not found the time to use it yet. Will share later. And to tell you the truth, I didn't know JLC had a 24-hour watch. So much to learn still for me. Ruckdee

We all learn every day...!

By: blomman Mr Blue : March 30th, 2014-03:17
That what makes life fun! :) The piece of wood I found... In the woods. Perfectly ages and shaped. Thank you, Ruckdee! Best Blomman

Ehh, see - our dear Blomman is back here.. Rare Retro appeal.. :)

.. that LC Quartermaster somehow has a , how shall I say , peculiar charm.. - Unusual but interesting , that paradigm, to let the time pass slower ; Reminds me on the " philosophical " & thoughtful ad from JLC, where the time & hours are compared to a riv...

Ah, the poet in you rememberd...! ;)

By: blomman Mr Blue : March 30th, 2014-03:44
Yes, these old ads apply! The dial is near perfect with light patina and darken radium dots. The scratches you see in the photos is in the plexi... As for the reference - here comes the trick part. The other case version with more c-shaped lugs (also scre...

Indeed, ringing a bell.. Didn't think of it.. But now !! .. Again: nice & extraodrinary

You know some of us there are collecting watches from 1964....

By: blomman Mr Blue : March 30th, 2014-12:03
I might just start collecting 1958! ;) A fantastic year! And we all know what came the year after... Best Blomman

1964 was a super year.

 By: amanico : March 30th, 2014-12:06
Even if, horologically speaking, 1958 seemed to be more exciting... ;) Best, Nicolas

LOL!

By: blomman Mr Blue : March 30th, 2014-12:07
Yes, all the Rock stars was born that year! ;) Guess, I should instead collect Omega... Since 1969 was a pretty big year for them! Best Blomman

Excellent, Blomman. That one always fascinated me.

 By: amanico : March 29th, 2014-23:08
The dial is beautiful, with its applied hour markers indexes. To read on a 24 hours scale is so natural and so complex at the same time. That is the fun of it. Huge congratulations on this lovely catch, my friend. There was another piece from the Lecoultr...

Still looking for the MM Chronometre...

I wish I had two....

By: blomman Mr Blue : March 30th, 2014-03:55
Missed a white dial not long ago... I suspect the buyer is among us here...! ;) Yes, logical - but very unusual. I really can't get uesed tohaveing "12" where "6" normally is...! ;) Best, dear friend Blomman

Sword hands the same as Geophysic?

 By: RDL : March 31st, 2014-07:20
Who would happen to know if the hands from the Quartermaster are the same ones as for Geophysic. Both watches are from 1958...so could they have used the same charismatic hands?

It seems to be the same hands, but I am not sure they have the same axis.

 By: amanico : March 31st, 2014-08:23
Since the movements are different... Best, Nicolas

From the looks of it...

By: blomman Mr Blue : March 31st, 2014-12:19
They look pretty much the same. As Nicolas stated, different movements, so you never know if the axis will fit. But, at this time many things were "standard" so the chance is that the are exchangebal. Here is a quick comparison shot - note that both watch...

 By: adonysn : April 4th, 2014-23:05
Thanks Nicolas and Blomman for the info Now I really feel I 'need' one of this Quartermaster. I see one on sale on the internet but the asking price is high, but still much less than the one sold during auction. Do you guys know if any on sale now? Just a...

There were a few 24 hours watches. Breitling, for example, with the Cosmonaute.

 By: amanico : April 4th, 2014-23:18
The Lecoultre archives were lost, sadly... So, most of the time, we can find an ad or two which describes a Watch we didn't know. That is the way I discovered the Lecoutlre Master Mariner Chronometer... Best, Nicolas

Guess we will never know...
