I would name it 'the Sub Dial' (that's what it is)

Horological Meandering: great examples, Tony

Tony, hope you are well! As always, an impeccable sense of aesthetics in both the patina and watches you illustrate! best

Girard Perregaux: Great watch

But shame they refinished the dial, had a lot of charme with the iconic letter font in GP signature. I thought it was in good enough condition not to touch it...

Horological Meandering: and the Scafograf of course

especially the Scafograf 100 and 200. But you are right, the Scientifigraf is very cool. Great dial and Rattrapantes at the recent auctions were stunning...but then they also made a 'stunning' hammer

Horological Meandering: Eberhard

also agree on this observaton, another brand where I think you can see this even more strongly is Eberhard - a while back really a 'pure' Italian brand (collector scene), now more and more showing up (see auctions) with higher profile in general.

Jaeger-LeCoultre: counter question

"What do the greatest brands call themselves...'watch manufacturers' or 'watch decorateurs'?"

Horological Meandering: Fortis Marinemaster 8001

May I ask if anybody here knows a bit about Fortis and especially about the Marinemaster 8001 (chronograph) model? Period of production (late 60s?), rarity etc. I find them very attractive but simply don't know much about Fortis. thanks a lot and appreciate any replies

Jaeger-LeCoultre: one was auctioned in Sweden on Saturday

I guess this is the one that was in auction in Sweden on Saturday (was featured on Hodinkee). I think it went for a high price...Euro 12 k or so. I do like he case, especially the way the lugs flow seamlessly from the case (reminds me of 565 Patek). I also love the shape of the hands, a perfect mix

Jaeger-LeCoultre: yes, one of each

I am fortunate to have one of each (steel, YG, RG)...but no cross-hair, so even that theme is still not complete
