Jean-Claude Biver is a wonderfully dynamic individual

A visionary yet practical.  A man who welcomes all opinions and criticisms, and utilizes the information to improve the brands where appropriate.

Accountability.  This trait is so important, yet so many humans lack it.  It is OK to not be perfect, to make mistakes.  The ones who succeed in life and better themselves are the ones who embrace shortcomings, personally and professionally.

I do not mean to imply that JCB has many of these issues, he seemingly does not.  But your examples in this post highlight the point I am making.  He did not hide behind "well, that is how we do it" or "it would be too difficult or expensive to change".  No.  He instead accepts the issue, even admits he did not notice it himself, and quickly goes about correcting it.  It did not take 2 or 3 years, it was fixed in 2 months!

This guy just gets it.  I have said it many times, he is a unanimous first ballot Hall of Famer in this industry.

"Zenith is the future of tradition" - and a brand that listens to collectors: examplified by the El Primero Chronomaster, 2017 vintage!

Under Jean-Claude Biver's leadership, Zenith has reconsidered its innovative roots as the bearer for the 'future of tradition ', manifested through an astounding 2333 chronometric records and awards. The recently presented Defy Lab Oscillator (see here ) ...

Chronomaster El Primero, 38mm, two-tone gold on steel

This is probably the most appealing of them all. Two-tone is on the rise, and I finally am mature enough to admit I love it! ...

Chronomaster El Primero, 42mm, two-tone gold on steel

The larger brother of the original Chronomaster. A nice watch if you like the larger size, but not as compact a horological package as its smaller sibling. The subdials are also not that much separated as with the 38mm version. The reason here is that the...

Chronomaster El Primero, 42mm, full red gold

Almost the same as its two-tone sister, just a bit more formal. For me personally, the two-tone has more thrill to it. ...

Which one is selling stronger?

By: MCG (Markus) : November 26th, 2017-09:08
Dear Magnus, thanks a lot - again! 👍🏻 Personally I am also not a big fab of overlapping dials. But, are we the majority? If I look at the 2 pics, I wonder which one will/is selling stronger. I would be very much interested to get a feedback from Jean-Clau...

There are more PuristS chronographs then we knew

Thanks for this background story of a bunch of chronographs influenced by PuristS feedback. Regards, MTF

Thank you so much...

for the review, Magnus! I've been particularly curious about the new and improved 38mm Chronomaster since your very first post about it soon after Baselworld. I think the way they adjusted the size and presentation of the sub-dials was a great compromise ...

Magnus, would you mind telling me if the pushers and crown are also rose gold?

On the Zenith website they appear to be made of steel but in your picture (the one showing the movement), they appear to be gold. Maybe my eyes are playing tricks on me

Great report, many thanks Magnus

This was a great move made by Zenith to rectify this issue, as well as their efforts to streamline their collections. The 38mm Chronomaster with blue dial or grey dial is very appealing!

Good on Zenith and Mr JCB

Zenith did a fantastic job! i really love the new sub dials layout & size. more faithful towards the A368, IMO if only they did this 2 years earlier... sigh... nevertheless, kudos to the Zenith team! cheers

Personally... I cannot wait!

To see what is coming! Zenith has new fire burning and I believe we are going to see great things coming out of this historic house. Not long until January and a sneak peak to see what is in store! Cheers Andrew

Well done Zenith and JCB!
